Yeah that's the vibe i got, a bit of jealousy and protictiveness. Uhtred has always been protective of her. Aethelred definately didn't made a good impression, especially after he disrespected Gisela right in front of him. Like he said she's too good for him.

People always talk about Aethelflaed not loving uhtred but if we think about it, she had always love uhtred even when she captured and want to run away with Erik I felt she still loves and admired uhtred. Uhtred on the other side had his fair share of women. Iseult and Gisela being the most important. So at the end I think Aethelflaed loves uhtred more.
I get your opinion but for me it’s not a question of who loves who more. Aethelflaed always had a crush on Uhtred and i think that in season 2 when the whole Erik stuff happened she wasn’t in love with him yet. She admired him for sure but i don’t think it was love yet. As for Uhtred, i think that he always had affection for her but it turned into much more in s3.
It turned out into something more for both of them once they’ve started to spend time together and get to really know each other. I love that we got to see that evolution through s2, s3 and s4. Their relationship went through many stages, that’s one think i like about them.
Why did aethelred said aelfwynn was to fair to be a mercian? I didn’t understand ?
I think he was referring to her skin complexion. It means having a pale skin. Seems like she’s “too pale” to be a Mercian. English isn’t my native language though so if anyone wants to add anything don’t hesitate.
