Did not know she was adopted. She looks strikingly like her adoptive parents and their blood children.
-Skyler was adopted straight out of the hospital. She grew up with her family in Southern California and was never told that she was adopted. She’s the middle child of the family. Her older brother Daniel was three years older than her and they got along perfectly. They were attached at the hip and were more friends than siblings. Her younger sister Maya was a year and a half younger than her and they did not get along. Once Maya found out Skyler was a lesbian she outed her to their parents only to have the plan backfire in her face when their whole family accepted Skyler with open arms and has had problems with her ever since.
-Sky loved painting. It was something that she did to get her mind off of things. She was a closed off person to everyone except Daniel. Having fallen for too many straight girls, she had given up on love and threw herself into her paintings. Only Daniel knew that each painting Skyler did had meaning. In her paintings, Skyler was the color blue, Daniel red, Maya yellow, her parents green and purple and every once in a while black and gray would show up but she never knew who they were for.
-She was a pretty good kid until she got caught up in the wrong group her junior year of high school. It was a group of artists like herself but they got her into street art and tagging. She enjoyed the thrill of escaping the law and continued to do it until she got caught halfway through her senior year. Instead of bailing her out, her parents let her stay in prison for a month to teach her a lesson. Once she was out, she locked herself away in her room for a week throwing herself into her artwork mad at herself for letting her lose control.
-After she did her time in jail, she went back to school only to find out how far behind she was and was forced to take summer school so she could graduate with her class. Already having trouble because of her slight dyslexia Skyler fell into a depression and started shutting herself out of the world. Her paintings became dark and her brother couldn’t help her. Only when she met a girl in summer school named Kallen did she step back and look at herself. The girl was what the school pictured a loser and was constantly bullied and yet she held her head high. They became friends and helped each other pass their courses. Once Sky graduated, she promised Kal that she would make sure they stayed in touch once she went to college.
-Skyler is worried about leaving home. She’s always had her mom cook meals for her and do her laundry and her dad there to help pay for her art supplies and canvases. But she is determined to move out and prove that she can take care of herself. She made sure that before she left she mastered the basics though and can now cook mac and cheese, top ramen, and chicken breast even though she knows she will be eating a lot of canned food and tv dinners in college.
