Somebody asked about a commission I did 13+ years ago for the lobby space of an office building in town that has since been refurbbed, and I was like “ah dunno”. So after a bit of research, going through old paperwork and the like, this painting was sold as one of a pair, the other one featured Alice from Disney’s Alice in Wonderland, and some ufos I based the look of off a ruffled flamenco dress. But both are owned by the guy that owned the land the building was built on, so either they’re in storage or on display in one his various private properties across the province. But yeah I really enjoyed painting them, they were my first commissioned commercial project after graduating from art school. About a year or two after they were installed, I called in once and asked the guys in reception if I could photograph the work. I remember that I was about to offer the info that I’d painted them when one of the security guards, whose job it was to sit staring at the painting for 10 hours a day, said “you don’t like it do ya?!” And I was like aye I know the guy who painted it (lol) twere he said “he musta been smoking some wacky baccy!” lol
