I think 03 Shredder is always going to be my favorite, because he was a genuine threat and had a certain charm to him when he tried to recruit Leo back in season 1, but he was also a little utrom alien who resorted to feral face grabbing when he was out of the exo-suit and the duality is just so flippin funny to me. The Duality of Shredder lmao

During the episodes where he's being all charming and business like while in "human form", I try to imagine what it would look like if Ch'rell was out in the open and not hiding in the suit, and it makes me crack up lol

Okay so i already made a longass post about this but Tumblr decided not to post the fucker so we're back at this again let's go

2003: This all starts with the very first Lotus Blossom, the daughter of the leader of the Lotus Clan, real name Liánhuā (the Lotus Clan and Lotus herself are mixed chinese-japanese in basically every one of my iterations because i wanted to make a parallel between Yoshi and Tang Shen and Leonardo and Lotus). After Ch’rell attacks her Clan, she's the only survivor, and with nowhere else to go, she becomes a Guardian. Soon enough, she trains and trains and becomes an extremely strong assassin and a skilled ninja. She swore revenge towards Ch'rell and the Foot Clan, but during a fight she is murdered by his hand. Her spirit is so strong that she decides to linger on, and to not pass on until she's completed her revenge. She sticks around, waiting for someone with as much potential as she had to destroy Ch'rell once and for all.

Fast forward to the present, Lotus (real name unknown) is a 15/16 year old that has inside her the displaced soul of Liánhuā, who saw in her potential. She doesn't know this, of course, as she was born with it, and now holds a special connection to the past which prevents her from living happily in the modern world. Abandoned at a young age, she could only manage to become a ninja for hire to survive. Ch'rell sees her by accident, and immediately recognizes Liánhuā within her, and decides that he has to have her on his side. Liánhuā herself is dormant inside of Lotus’s body so she cannot oppose this. Lotus is hired and starts working for the Foot, to eliminate the turtles. She ends up as a recurring enemy that they have to face, and while at first she seems ruthless and cold, always putting her job before anything else, she ends up opening up to Leonardo, discovering that they are more similar than they thought at first. Out of all the Lotuses, she's the one with the most similar backstory to the 87 one, and she's the one that stays a "villain" the longest.

I'm gonna make other posts for the other Lotus because if I don't, Tumblr won't let me post this. So yeah let me all know if you want to see any other version of her in particular

Day 21: Favorite Shredder

It was a fight trying to figure out which Shredder to draw and an even bigger one just trying to figure out a pose for him. Nonetheless he has arrived.

You know something? We don’t really have much of a backstory on Ch’rell.

I mean I know most 2000s villains, especially animated villains, don’t have a backstory and sometimes they don’t need one, some of them are just straight up mean just because they can be. (Have you seen the narcissists in the world? Some of them are just build that way.)

However I would like to know what made Ch’rell here such a big threat to the Utroms in the first place. Like I’ve noticed on different occasions that he’s intelligent as hell, smart enough to figure out how to operate a whole exo suit before one of the inventors of the exo suit did so. He’s able to be charismatic enough to pass as a human for centuries, definitely gaslit a whole lot of people to his whim (and April’s poor shop), and then there’s the special case of Karai. What did he see in her to keep her? Was it a publicity stunt to adopt Karai in order to maintain a good reputation or did he actually see something in her that he felt kindred to and decided to have her as a safeguard for his legacy on Earth while he conquered the stars?

This Ch’rell character honestly needs some unpacking just as much as the 2012 and 87 versions of Shredder do.
