Sign-ups are now open for the Prince of Tennis Big Bang!
This event is a bit of a twist on the original concept of a big bang! A big bang is a collaborative challenge in which writers write long fics, and artists then choose them and work together to illustrate the final fic. The final product will still be illustrated fics, but there are different target lengths and different art minimums for each target length. More info is below the cut!
TIER 1
1,000 - 3,999 words
At least one uncolored sketch (scanned or digital)
TIER 2
4,000 - 7,999 words
At least one colored sketch with a simple background
TIER 3
8.000+ words
At least one fully colored, fully lined or painted piece with a complex background
There is no limitation to what you can write, except that your work should not be a crossover fic. As this is the tenipuri big bang, your fic should revolve around tenipuri characters. Both gen and ship fic are allowed.
You are permitted to draw something more complex than the tier requires; these are just the minimum requirements. Please send us a message if you would like clarification as to whether or not your piece meets the minimums!
We have decided to run a non-anonymous bang in which artists are aware of who is writing what when selecting outlines that they would like to illustrate.
All work should be created originally and specifically for the purpose of this big bang. It’s okay to recycle old outlines, but please do not submit fic or art that you previously created.

sign-ups for the prince of tennis big bang close saturday!
If you or a friend are on the fence about signing up, please consider doing so! You can always drop out midway if you decide that the time commitment is too much for you! the informational post and signup information are here.
I have a question about claims. In the event that there are more writers than artists (or more artists than writers) will artists be asked to illustrate more than one fic (or if it's the other way around, will some fics be assigned more than one artist)? There was no space on the sign-up form to indicate willingness to work with more than one person so I was curious what will happen if the numbers aren't even. Thank you in advance for any clarifications!
If there are more artists than writers, there will be double assignments.
If there are more writers than artists, as there currently are, after signups end, we’ll be asking artists whose willing to illustrate multiple pieces and at what tier, and will take this into consideration when matching, having artists illustrate two fics if necessary.
APRIL 14: You should have your outline complete. This should be a bulleted outline of your entire story. An example from a different fandom’s bang can be found here. You can make changes to your story after this, but it should be well-formed enough that artists know what they’re in for.
JUNE 2: This is mostly for writers doing shorter fics that might border on tiers. You should have enough written by this point in order to determine which tier your final word count should land you in. Any adjustments should be made now so that your artist knows what their minimums are.
JULY 14: Your fic should be complete from start to finish. This can be a rough first draft, just have something complete (unpolished is fine) and complete proofreading, rewrites, etc before the final deadline on AUGUST 4.
Additional clarification re: some discord questions. The minimum art requirement for Tier 3 does not change no matter how long your fic gets. It’s up to the writers to negotiate with the artists if they would like multiple pieces to illustrate a lengthier fic. The event will only require one illustration regardless, but more illustrations are more than welcome.
As has been pointed out to us, this is technically a mini bang, rather than a big bang. But we’d like to emphasize that everything over 8k is welcome be it 10k or 100k. We just have low tiers in order to encourage more people to participate and collaborate. We know that some people get rather busy over the summer months, so we’d like a low commitment, high yield event.
