Toad Suck Daze, Conway Arkansas

My parents hometown (and my college town) is Conway Arkansas.  

It's half way between Toad Suck and Pickles Gap.  No joke.

Toad Suck was named for the people who would frequent a tavern along the river during steamboat days and would "suck on the bottle and swell up like toads".  Today they celebrate Toad Suck Daze, honoring those good ol' drunks by holding toad races and eating friend fair foods.  

Now you're left wondering about Pickles Gap?  That was named for a german immigrant who turned his whole load of pickles over into the creek.  Today there is a little hillbilly village there were you can by some trinkets and eat pie.  I loved going there when I was little and visiting my grandparents.
