is apparently demonstrating the waiting by making some of you wait for the conclusion of this story... Except the waiting she had to do was really hard. It wasn't waiting for someone to finish the stupid story, already...or even just waiting for an appointment. This was knowing someone had a piece of her body and was going to really determine if she had a melanoma. If you have no idea what's going on, go back to the post from April 24. Feel free to roll your eyes and ignore it all. This is one of her short stories gone stupidly crazy long. She didn't tell many people because she didn't want anyone to worry until she knew there was something worth worrying about. And she tried to not freak out herself. She kept on keeping on, trying to pretend nothing was going on, but it was difficult to forget with a stupid missing toenail. Her team at work had a face to face conference in Dallas. She couldn't really get away with wearing sandals, so she had to cram the toe into real shoes. It hurt like shit in the morning but by the end of the day, her toe had just gone numb. While there, she talked to a co-worker about their partner who had been sick. It was cancer and was a very difficult cancer to treat. She listened while her co-worker talked about tests and hospital stays and their young son thanking the doctors and nurses. It amazed her that her co-worker was so positive through the conversation. The partner had made it through and they were going out of town in a couple of days to do a last test to make sure the cancer hadn't come back after three years clean. She was heartbroken for her co-worker. Their family had been through so much! She was happy everything now seemed to be going so well. She was also terrified--was this going to be her life? And she was in pain. Her toe was tired of being numb and wanted out of that shoe! To be continued sooner rather than later... #ToeSaga
