                there were still a few hours left before they got back to their apartment. why their father had to move even farther from the two of them was beyond them. no matter where he was, they’d be the ones who had to make the trip to go visit. 

                perhaps grabbing the late train wasn’t the best idea seeing as shizuru could tell he was dozing off. he just had to stay up for a few more hours and then he could crash when they got home. why was it so— hard ? 

                he wants to insist that he’s fine, but she’s already scooting over and offering a spot on her lap for him to rest his head. it’s embarrassing, sleeping with his head on his sister’s lap but, between the two of them, trips to visit their father was mentally and emotionally exhausting. what was the harm in not bickering for once or trying to one-up the other and accept that they’re able to care for one another every now and again. 

                      —it takes a little less than five minutes for him to knock out.

   Blue  eyes  watched  the  flames  of  the  campfire  the  two  boys  had  created  dance  in  the  night  air,  fiery  fingers  reaching  upwards  greedily  to  the  sky.  It  wasn’t  something  that  Killua  had  ever  bothered  to  focus  on  since  he  and  Gon  had  embarked  on  this  quest  of  finding  Gon’s  father,  the  Ants,  life  had  been  moving  too  fast.  Now  he  finally  had  time  to  think  about  how  impossible  it  had  been  to  get  a  hold  of  the  blonde.  (  No,  he  knew  deep  down  there  was  a  more  SELFISH  reason  as  to  why  he’d  never  mentioned  it  before.  )

   “  After  all,  those  Spiders  are  still  crawling  around  somewhere,  and  well,  I  heard  even  Leorio  couldn’t  get  a  hold  of  him.  I  know  that  look  he  had,  he’s  not  stable.  Speaking  of  which,  isn’t  it  a  bit  suspicious  they  seemed  to  just....disappear  suddenly  ?  Guys  like  that  couldn’t  be  doing  anything  good.  “  

   An  exhale  -  perhaps  the  topic  would  distract  Gon  from  other  matters  for  the  moment.  That,  and  the  s’mores  they  were  making.

He bites his tongue until he feels iron, thinks that the taste will calm him down but it doesn’t, it just fills his mouth with the bitter metallic liquid. His Father ought to be a manipulator for how he manages to get under Illumi’s skin. Any emotion at all from Illumi is treated as an outburst by his Father, held so firmly under his thumb it is a wonder that he hasn’t snapped sooner. He can’t look at him, or else Silva will know the truth, how close he is to cracking under such undeniable pressure.

He pats Illumi on the head. Hopefully the manipulator is done sulking over Killua's tricks by now. [ from Silva ]

Talking out his situation with Silva had helped him, Illumi seems a little calmer, slightly more self-assured in his decisions, for the moment at least.

It seems that he almost is, but he’s moved past the ‘sulking’ phase to the plotting phase. “Next time he’s a brat, I’m putting a needle through his arm.”
