It’s been a couple of days since she washed up on the shores of this island, and to say she still hasn’t wrapped her head around what was happening was an understatement. She didn’t get what happened, how she ended up here, why didn’t anyone else from the rescue team showed up yet (if both she and her partner could get washed all the way here, they had to be close, and yet there were no signs of them, which just made no sense whatsoever to Madi), how nobody has found the plane and all of its survivors (along with other survivors of other tragedies, that was another thing that was hard to wrap her head around). And on top of that, she was worried sick she not only doomed her partner to being stuck here, but she caused much worse harm. But she absolutely did not want to think about it. Any of it.
After a couple of days on the island, however, she finally decided to try to look around instead of just sitting and pacing near the medical tents where her partner was kept. She wasn’t exactly sure what she was hoping to find, she just took off in a direction.
She mostly walked on the beach, but as she turned inward, to her surprise after a while she arrived to what she could only describe as a farm. A farm in the middle of a deserted - or, well, kind of deserted - island, full of different type of fruits, and... was that sugar cane? She read about those once but the last thing she thought was running into a whole plantation of it here.
She looked around and when she couldn’t see anyone around, she carefully edged closer to an orange tree, running her fingers carefully over the leaves. The fruit looked beautiful and she could not imagine how anyone could do this here of all place. Then again, she didn’t know anything about growing orange trees or any other plants here, so who was she to know, this was probably a good place for them or something.
She was so enchanted by the tree, she didn’t realize there was somebody behind her until she heard footsteps close and she spun around to find a man with a beard near. “Oh, hello, sorry, I wasn’t-- I mean, I was just admiring the oranges, I--” She took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves. Her damn nerves that were so higher than they were in a really long time. “Hello. Yes, I said that already, sorry. I hope I’m not interrupting anything.”
