TOME Week: Day Seven - Free for All

Well, TOME week’s finally at its end because I get final say HAH. This has been one of the most enjoyable periods I’ve had in this fandom. So first off, thank you SO much to all those that participated. It wouldn’t have been possible without your contributions! Whether you drew art, created graphics, wrote up commentary, or even just reblogged others’ work--you guys are rad as hell. Thank you! 

I wanted to make a set that reaches out to you folks personally as my final work for the week. Things get a bit lengthy from here, so I’ve cropped it for easier reading and consumption. But the basic gist is this: things get better. You get better. It may not be tomorrow, it may not be next month, and maybe it won’t even be next year. But in the end, you will be alright. Nothing lasts forever, and as cheesy as it sounds, rainy days never stay. 

Remember that people love and care about you. You’ve come a long way and you’ll only continue to grow. You matter, your struggles matter, and you will overcome them in time. Good luck, guys.

Now to explain. This piece came to mind as I was listening to my iPhone. Shuffle lead to playing an old track on there, ‘Believe - Yellowcard,’ and these lyrics really hit home. Yes, the subject is specific, and yes, said subject is very outdated (I can’t seem to figure out how to permanently delete songs from iTunes anymore so all my embarrassing preteen-teenage genres mock me whenever I scroll through). However, the chorus is general enough to be applied to any scenario, and I think it’s a message I feel everyone needs to be reminded of once in a while: you will be okay. You can do this. You’re going to move past this dark place and find a better one.

TOME’s strongest element, from my perspective, is its relationships. Online friendships specifically. Illustrating how people from across the globe can connect, befriend, and even become family with one another--that’s something very special to me as it reflects much of my own life. And the more people I meet this way, the more I realize how many are struggling. With their depression, with their homes, with conditions completely out of their control. There’s myriad reasons why people are unhappy and each situation differs.

But instead of acknowledging it’s sad and moving on, I think people need to remember others need help. They need support. It’s easy to fall into dark mindsets when things get bad and no one seems to want to help. To counteract that, try and reach out to those you notice are suffering. Remind them that things do get better and that they’re not alone. Even if it’s just a stranger’s quick message on anonymous, it means a lot.

Things do get better. But it’s imperative to remind people of this and consistently support them. This fandom is one of the nicest, loveliest I’ve been apart of, and you guys are special to me. If you ever need any help, my inbox is always open. And I’ve seen time and time again that people reach out to others here and lift them up, through art and messages and things of that ilk. That’s something pretty damn amazing to me. You guys rock, I mean it.

Take care of yourselves and remember that you’re gonna be alright.

TOME Appreciation Week Day 5 Favorite Fight: Alpha vs Zetto, Zetto vs Nylocke Both of these fights were quite intense, however Nylocke and Zetto's fight was a bit lighter in how Nylocke was trying to get Zetto to have fun and enjoy the fight. Alpha and Zetto's fight was darker and was more of a fight to the death type deal with the forbidden power adding to the risk and contained varying emotions of hatred and helplessness. Zetto's quote it just... My feels. "Kill... Kill me." So painful.

TOME Appreciation Week Day 3 Favorite Relationship: Rockoon and Doubling Phew. Working on a weeks worth of appreciative work is hard. Regardless, it's to show love for our beloved web series TOME. I have other relationships that I really like but this one is my favorite by a smudge, Rockoon and Doubling. We see them at the very beginning and follow them along with the main protags. It's so cool to see how they develop but *Spoilers!* It's so sad when they stop being friends just because Rockoon didn't know Skait was Doubling. The message he was going to send at the end made me sad. These guys are great.

TOME Appreciation Week Day 1 Favorite Character: Kirb/Zetto Talk about late to the party. The whole week late, to be more accurate. It's mainly because school wants me to die and not do things I want to do for fun. Anyway, Kirb and Zetto are my favorite because I can relate to them so much. He's also really funny when he's an angry imp but a total badass (and angry) shark. Hope to finish the rest and post them before midnight. I have a concert to get to at 6PM so I don't know what's going to happen. Regardless, enjoy. Happy TOME week!

TOME Appreciation Week Day 7: Free-for-all!

After some contemplation, I've decided to rant about my various headcanons I have for the show.

As evident from the picture, I like to think that Bitshrum and Kindarspirit are total BFFs. Like, if no one else is on, they plan pranks to play on the other Netkings. Kindar's mostly there to make sure that no one is actually upset by the pranks themselves, as she sometimes worries about Bitshrum's sense of humor.

Bitshrum, as environmental designer, likes to go around and take scenic screenshots when he's bored. He uploads these screenshots to TOME's official website.

Kindar is an amazing singer, and her singing causes powerful weather effects to happen in-game(you know, because her powers relate to changing background music to form her weather moves).

Since Rubirules is in jail, the Netkings have to hire someone to take over his duties(confirming characters, managing the character creation system, etc.).

The Netkings numbering system is based on the order they met each other(Webmaster being the leader, meeting Bitshrum first and Execk last).

Granda and T-Bones became friends when T-Bones saw Granda getting ganged up on, and he protected her because she was clearly a new player. He ended up acting as her mentor, and their matching dinosaur themes made them quite a powerful duo.

While Sofdti is shown to read thoughts automatically, Gamecrazed doesn't have this feature. For GC to read thoughts, it must be done by choice, and it requires focus.

Here's something else that I think I need to say. I've heard people say that it's really messed up to ship GC/Sofdti romantically with anyone, but I disagree(this whole week I've been proclaiming my disagreement basically). Here's why. Gamecrazed/Sofdti is, mentally, plenty old enough to be shipped with, for example, Nylocke. 'But she's physically only one year old! Shipping her is so messed up!' Sayeth the opposition. But, consider this: does her physical age really matter? She doesn't exist at all outside of the game, so her mental age is really the only thing that would come into play when she interacts with anyone. So, tell me, is it really wrong to ship her? I don't think it is. I really want others to agree with me, as this is my OTP. Please.

TOME means a lot to me, as I have made a few internet friends before. I'm glad we all had this week to really express that. Thank you for reading, and thank you for playing.
