[English below↓] このたびMAKI Galleryでは、日本人アーティスト後智仁（うしろ ともひと）による初個展「Pointed」を表参道ギャラリースペースにて開催いたします。長年アートディレクターとしてデジタル上のパフォーマンスで第一線を走り続けてきた後にとって、物質的な作品のみを発表するという正に新境地となります。「Pointed（尖った）」と名付けられた本展は11点のキャンバス作品と3点の立体作品で構成され、後のこれまでのデジタル創作が物質的なテクスチャーを持つ作品へ移行する過程に伴い、過去の活動との共鳴や発展、または差別化されることへの思考が可視化されています。 今回展示する平面作品に対し後は“コンセプトは「有機的な曲線上の点を減らすことによる直線化が起こす絵の崩壊とその段階」。僕がこれまで影響を受けたキャラクターや広告、ピンナップなど具体的で完成されたイメージの曲線から点を減らすことで、そのイメージの持つ具体的な意味や役割を曖昧にし、元の役割とは全く違うものを作るというものです。曲線から点を減らすことで、その線は直線化しツンツンと尖ったもの（Pointed)となっていきます”と語っています。後の創作活動の新たな一ページとアーティストとしての世界観、そして圧倒的な品格を備える作品群を是非会場でご高覧いただければ幸いです。 展覧会/作家詳細について弊社ウェブサイトをご覧ください。 *URLはプロフィール欄を参照ください。 @maki_gallery_tokyo MAKI Gallery is pleased to present Japanese artist Tomohito Ushiro’s first solo exhibition, ‘Pointed’, at Omotesando, Tokyo. The show will focus solely on Ushiro’s physical artworks, marking a new chapter for the artist who has worked for many years in the forefront of digital media as an art director. ‘Pointed’ features eleven canvas paintings and three sculptures that visualize Ushiro’s thoughts on echoing, expanding on, or differentiating from his past practice as his earlier digital creations transition into materially textured works of art. Regarding the two-dimensional paintings included in this exhibition, Ushiro comments, “The concept of these works is ‘the stages of collapse an image undergoes when organic curves are straightened through a reduction of points in the line.’ By reducing the number of points on the curves which make up complete, representational images, such as characters, advertisements, and pinups that have left strong impressions on my life, I blur the specific meaning and function of that image and create something entirely distinct from its original purpose. When you remove points from a curve, the line becomes increasingly straight and pointed.”.
