Someone spilled coffee all over a pile of my prints. Rather than get mad, I got cutting. I'm preparing new works out of old. Like cutting the legs off a pair of jeans and patching the holes in the arse with cut up floral shirts. Cutting, glueing, drawing and stamping. These are a few of my favourite things.
This is called Your Voodoo Will Screw You. The paper is 70x100cm but the image is slightly smaller. While I was drawing this, I was having a conversation with a friend about witchcraft and superstition and so on.
He told me that someone had used voodoo on him once. I asked him if he found that scary. 'Quite the opposite,' he said, 'It meant the person felt so completely hopeless and was at the end of knowing what to do or of how to control me any longer. I'd won.' £1000 unframed and posted to your door. In a tube.
This was an experiment. It was an experiment that came out alright in the end. It's exactly 70x100 and colouring pencils on paper.
