Too many years have passed
I may never get over that I grew up with a disability I never knew I had, while others did, with no mental or emotional support around a disability I didn't know I had.
Now having used all of my experiences to work through and write about my trauma, everything still feels heavy. I feel stuck and too many years have passed.
Around something so personal, there is no excuse. When I think about my life, when I think about my mental and emotional struggles growing up around a disability I didn’t know I had, this doesn't work.
I get this was the bigger picture, this was pre-determined for me so that I would start my blog, write a book and if anything along the way around my disabilities would have changed, my experiences would not have led me to what I'm doing now.
But where it was all part of the universe’s plan for me, those experiences don't change wilful acts. What happened to me wasn't done out of ignorance, it would have felt easier if it were.
I was blamed for being angry. I trusted it's what you do as a child. Yes, I was let down.
