I had an interesting twisted little idea of a darker version of the tooth fairy legend and it’s that the entire tooth fairy job was actually a scam from the start tooth fairy don't take the teeth to turn it into pixie dust. They take it to make their own empire and get paid by using the teeth like people use elephant tusk for ivory by making it into jewelry, medicine, potions, and all sorts of crazy things while only giving their human clients, a coin of the profits, a perfectly executed system plus I did hear some myths say that the tooth fairy uses the teeth to make her a little castle and that sounds a lot like what people do with ivory making statues malicious little devils scamming people is just very funny to me, especially since they’re so innocent also had this idea of tooth fairies and tooth mice being like spies when they collect the teeth kind of inspired me to make this little character plus I thought it’d be good commentary on how messed up ivory poaching is on the black market. I always wondered why it’s so valuable to kill innocent elephant and stuff for basically Denton a.k.a. stuff that’s in our teeth as well.

The Tooth Mouse by Susan Hood; illustrated by Janice Nadeau
It was a lovely story, accompanied by absolutely beautiful illustration and style. It was just such a great book!
The story follows Sophie, a small, young mouse who would like more than anything to become the next Tooth Mouse.

Excerpt from the book:
I have to admit something I was shocked when Rise of the Guardians included the mouse. I was taught about the mouse getting our teeth, not the Tooth Fairy. I still knew about Tooth, but I still remember my mom telling me to put my tooth under my pillow for the mouse to get it. Anyways I liked that they added the mouse.
I was delightfully surprised when they showed the mouse as part of Tooth’s little European division of teeth collectors. Where I come from there is no Tooth Fairy. Instead there is this little mouse that picked up your teeth and gave you money. It was nice to see that they considered the views of other cultures myths and stories and added them. It made the movie all the more enjoyable for me :)
