When Blaine's friend Susan drags him to an American Idol audition, he's not even trying to get past the first round-- much less into the top ten. And after getting through Disco Week, avoiding the media, and dealing with his very absent parents, Blaine's not sure he even wants to win-- although falling in love might make up for a lot of that. And maybe, just maybe, he can win this thing.
Summary: In which they're all American Idol contestants, and the journey to self-acceptance can sometimes be hard and and sometimes be nationally televised.
Review: This fic is... amazing, is probably a good word? Scandal, emotional breakthroughs, friendships, romance, sweet scenes, sexy scenes, and a metric ton of giddily perfect musical numbers (GOD, Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight) make this fic the best kind of roller coaster you could possibly ask for. Blaine's journey here is riveting and heart-warming and really, embarrassingly cathartic for me, and basically whenever I reread this fic I'm left misty and smiling fit to grin my mouth off.
Other notes: The addition of Jesse St. James to any fic automatically increases it's genius for me by a factor of about a hundred, but this fic really capitalizes on him in an unabashedly hilarious way. He WOULD be on Idol. Perfection.
