Here's a close up shot of the Topshop outfit I put together. The dress is the sold out Sky Floral Frill Wrap dress, retailing at £46 & is absolutely beautiful. It has a mix of pastel & deep spring floral tones (reds-pinks + greens-blues), which look like they were sketched on in a vintage-artistic-cartoon type of style. Also, pure & vivid, sky blue background is enhanced by the vivid florals. HOWEVER! I was really upset to have a massive wardrobe malfunction, which made the dress unwearable. 😿I wore this dress out & it constantly blew open at the split because it had no other fastenings on it, just the wrap around waist tie. Whilst I loved the tie, it really needed a button lower down at the split & preferably one higher up at the v neck, which was already very hard to get to stay in place. In the end, I actually had to stop & purchase some leggings to put on, so I could take the dress off - it would have worked with leggings, but I would have still got annoyed with it blowing open. Such a shame as it was a stunning dress and after looking at all the other wrap dresses in Topshop, I saw they featured buttons + hooks! For those who have a steadier hand & more patience than I do, you can always try sewing your own buttons on, but I would avoid safety pins as this could tear the dress! I loved the look though and wanted to share it with you guys, so I managed to snap a few photos before I took it off. The Funnel Neck Frill Top was actually in the current sale for £12 & whilst they have sold out you can find the exact same top, as well as other variants, direct on Topshop.com They range from around £20 upwards. The boots are my favourite that I own & are the only piece not from this years collection, but 2016. Check out this Topshop outfit I put together! An example of how to wear that pretty Spring dress, but still stay warm in the chilly winds. The floral dress was a wrap around style to create the low cut v-neck style & due to the pattern it only needed a plain top underneath. Black was the ideal choice because it goes with anything + finding a colour to suit not only all the colours on the dress but the overall brightness would have been a pain. The dark & bright shades contrast each other, which actually makes the colours more vivid & the patterns more defined. Whilst the main focus is the dress, by layering black underneath you are almost creating a backdrop for your frame. Essentially you are isolating the shade and this means the parts that are visible will have more of impact. The oversized floaty sleeves + v neck cut, teamed with the tight top + funnel neck finish, elongates the arms neck & torso - the black tights and chunky heeled boots do the same to the legs. Overall this helps to create a taller, slender, silhouette. Avoid layering with short sleeves, as this will make your arms look chopped in half due to the already short dress sleeves - the same will happen with your neck if you wear a lower cut top underneath. My only other warning if you are looking for a wrap around dress would be to select one that has extra fastenings, as well as the ties at the side.
