Prompt 7 - Snowed In/ Blizzard
@wolfstarmicrofic December 7, word count 363
Sirius bent his head low against the biting wind as snow pounded against his thick wool coat. He trudged down the street and dragged the front door open. He barely made it through as the wind pushed against the glass. He heaved a sigh of relief as the warmth of the entryway washed over him. He brushed off as much snow as he could on the mat by the door and headed towards the stairs.
He looked up at the five flights of stairs he’d have to climb. The lift had stopped working two months ago, and the building owner had yet to do anything about it. He grabbed the bannister in his hand and started his ascent.
By the time he’d made it to their flat, he was exhausted. He all but fell through the door.
“Good time in town?” Remus asked from his armchair, not looking up from his book.
“Yeah, until this blizzard hit. It’s coming down so hard we’ll get snowed in at this rate,” Sirius grumbled as he took his soggy outerwear off and went to hand it on the clothes course beside the radiator.
Remus finally looked up from his book and turned his head to the window.
“Not that bad?! The wind was so strong I could barely get home. I saw Nora from next door flying down the road on her mobility scooter.” Remus looked at him shocked.
“Did you try to help her?”
“I tried, but she yelled at me on her way past that she was having the time of her life.” He toed off his boots; thankfully, his socks were still bone dry. “I’ll go check on her when she gets back.”
Remus lifted his blanket, and Sirius immediately took the invitation to crawl into Remus’s lap and snuggle under the warm blanket.
“Christ, you’re cold,” Remus yelped as Sirius’s frozen fingers found their way under his knitted jumper.
“I told you, blizzard,” Sirius said, pulling his hand out and waving it towards the window.
“Yes, my love,” Remus said, kissing the top of his head and wrapping the blanket back around them before returning to his book.
