Cutting off my nails this morning. My son normally does the massages at Mind Majik Therapies, but sometimes, for special clients I'll do their massage. I mostly work with people with a history of trauma. Having an understanding of their history, I can tailor the massage to suit. We often hold emotions in the body, which is one of the reasons I added massage to my list of qualifications. It's interesting for me to go through the 'letting go' process when cutting my nails. Just how much of my identity I hold there. Much like cutting hair really. After cutting the first, it becomes easier to cut the rest. There is the initial hesitancy, but I know they quickly grow back. Upon cutting them, I imagine myself releasing that which no longer serves. Taking a breath & releasing as the nail is cut. It can be cathartic & liberating. I'm happy to cut them, not only for my client's comfort, but also to provide myself with an opportunity to intentionally release & let go. From a metaphysical or emotional perspective, fingernails can represent our defences. For me, I do not believe I need strong defences. I am enough. Aware enough, strong enough to not feel I need armour. This is a fresh cut; being aware & intentional, ready to let go & shed. #lettinggo #totallypresent #sacrificesmustbemade (at Mind Majik)
