Autistic and other sensory disorder peeps: What are your biggest sensory triggers? Mine is anything covering my hands or my fingertips, like lotion or glue, and especially powdered things like flour.
9. Favorite Autistic-owned Business Almost any Autistic self-owned business.
10. Sensory Life. I’ll kind of give you some key points of what it’s like for me.
Everything is LOUD now everything is too soft.
My clothes are trying to strangle me alive and I can feel my own sweat that is so gross. Get it off, get it off, GET IT THE FUCK OFF.
Ooo is that a soft thing, if it’s fluffy I have to put it up to my face, rub, rub, rub.
Headphones are tiny friends keeping me sane for when I get out of my house.
My house...my house...cleaning is a sensory nightmare. Too many smells, the sounds are on and off which are very annoying, and I can’t adjust anything the right way. The bleach is somehow bleaching my nose and I’m crying without meaning too. Noo can’t clean in circles because then I stim in one spot instead of cleaning all spots. Circling is so effective in cleaning tho.
I cannot stand light and my life is consistently vampire jokes.
Speaking of jokes so are tags, I hate them.
I don’t like the feeling of being squeezed but I like the feeling of being crushed.
Food, food betrays me, and all I want to do is love it. Food texture is so complicated. For example, I can’t stand the way pickles feel in the mouth but I love pickle juice.
I love the way I look in jeans but hate wearing the fabric or the way they tightly squeeze my stomach. I’ve been trying to wear them less but I feel self-conscious only wearing comfy clothes.
My skin always feels like it’s trying to break free and it’s always itchy.
Thick slime is best slime feel especially slime that pops in your hands and is dry.
Most smells make me sick but also affect my mood.
Background noise is ten times louder and more intrusive and repetitive then it should be.
