To be honest, when I envisioned a fully realized, fully psychic Reigen, I always considered his relationship with Touchirou to be pretty strained by the time the audience sees them. Touchirou and Reigen were closer in the past. They were something of business partners. Friends, even. Perhaps they deemed themselves partners-in-crime, bonding easily with their similar psychic talents, but they grew apart as Claw grew as a business and formed several locations across Japan. Their morals weren’t necessarily different (I like to imagine that Reigen puppeteers a strong moral compass around Mob merely to get the kid to trust him, but starts living that moral compass the more he’s around Mob), but rather their distance to each other, and their growing desire to be the sole owner of Claw. They fight more often, with differing goals and different approaches on how to complete them. It isn’t until Touchirou starts acting as a threat to Mob (or rather, Mob’s family), that Reigen’s rivalry against Touchirou becomes something personal.
