Using stencils made from his own photography, Anders Gjennestad, aka Strøk, has made a name for himself in Norway and across Europe painting an alternate universe on the sides of buildings—a world without time or gravity where figures frozen in motion play and cast long shadows. Taking great care in choosing his materials and placement, and considering how the textures will change over time, Widewalls says that his work has a “unique ability to interact with the space” as well as the viewer. Born in the remote coastal town of Arendal, Norway, Strøk now lives in Berlin, but was back in his home country in 2014 to paint this playful work on the side of Stavanger’s Tou Scene arts center for the Nuart Festival. @andersgjennestad @nuartfestival @wdwlls @touscene
