Pokemon AU Headcanon, part 2/?: Trading and its specifics
Since the trading logic for evolvig and in general has always felt fluent in games but not in actual reality (because let’s face it, there isn’t a huge need to overcomplicate the process and build a Rube Goldberg machines.). Due to this I’ve decided to implement the minor changes in the logic of trading which I will follow in my Pkmn AU verses.
Trading Machines and Wonder Trade exist and are organized by GTS (Global Trade Center) and function like in the games. The major change is that their use is just mainly used for people who are in other regions and far from each other. Corporations and laboratories also use this service if they need a specific HM user or other specific reasons.
In the Trading Machines both parties see the species and its level before the Pokemons are traded and you have to double-check your options before the trade is confirmed. The selected Pokemon will be sent to your PC Box you use by numerical order.
Wonder Trade is like lottery and you hoping to win something, and the chances of actually getting something good depends on the goal you have. In general you get mostly not rare Pokemons since nobody is dumb enough to trade a rarely found one to an unknown one.
Trading Machines and Wonder Trade can be accessed from Pokemon Centers or the official building at f.ex Jubilife City and the two biggest cities in a region. If the server is dead and too crowded, neither is possible until the connections and electronics are fixed.
Most people usually deal with Pokemon Trading face-to-face by a set of protocols most follow to keep things fair and this process is recommended if you know them well or in person, and are in the same area. If the person has any suspicions on the other party, they are directed to use the GTS to stay safe and not get scammed.
The protocol consists of 1) showing before the trade what Pokemon will be traded by either releasing out from the ball to the nature to show that you aren’t bluffing/confirm you aren't handing a wrong Pokemon, 2) returning the Pokemon to the balls and then handing the Poke Ball to the other (with markings to ensure you’re not receiving the same back if the ball design is the same) without any gimmickry, 3) and finally getting the Pokemon out from the balls to imply to them how they now changed owners.
The server actions at GTS can be overlooked and controlled in case any illegal actions happen and PDs and higher forces like Interpol have a right to get access to the data if they have heavy reasons to do so.
