"I'm fixin' to give you a rectal exam with that butter."
Trading Spouses - Rant
I hardly ever watch lifetime shows like Trading Spouses, but my dumb-ass decided “it’s popular and it's on tv, so let’s give it a shot.” Let’s just say I will forever fear watching lifetime reality shows… Cringe worthy-ness! And yet, it's one of those show you love to hate.
So, the first show I watched was Trading Spouses and it is about two wives from two different families switch and takes care of the other’s family. At the end of the show, each gets $50,000 but the substitute wife gets to choose what to spend it on. I was a bit confused but once you watch it, you get the idea.
I happen to pick the first episode that was on and it was absolutely crazy! The first family was a Christian family that relied solely on God and Jesus. The family itself seemed ready to experience a new wife/mom. I thought, “this isn’t too bad… yet.”
The second family was like a free-spirited family that wasn’t exactly Christian but wasn’t Atheist. They just believed in the Earth, astrology, inner spirituality. The husband was an astrologer and the wife was a love radio talk show host. Honestly, these people just seemed awesome and open-minded and the mom seemed like no only a mother but could be someone’s best friend.
So these two moms/wives switched and we see the Christian mom met the family. The Christian mother started flipping out! There were astrology maps and gargoyles everywhere - frankly, this house was incredible. Call me gothic and crazy, I like bizarre. So she felt uncomfortable… I can't blame her for that too much.
Next, the free-spirited mother came into the Christian family and from the moment she came into the door, she was nothing but considerate and open-minded.
There isn’t much drama with the Christian family and the awesome mom; most of the show is about the Christian mother with the “dark-sided” people, as she would call them.
Throughout the entire experience she resisted, complained and was close-minded. She went onto the radio talk show to help the dad and when a psychic appeared, she left and started hysterically praying. This, I don’t blame her too much. She doesn’t believe in psychics, believes it’s witchcraft or whatever and that’s okay because that goes against what she believes in. She probably way over-reacted but its reality television, what are ya gonna do?
After that, she wanted to go to church. The dad understood because she was in a different place and wanted “familiar territory”, but this mother kept trying to get the kids into Christianity, to believe in God and only God.
Listen, those are not your kids and that is not your decision to make, even if you did swap for a week; do not try to convert them.
My mind throughout this was “Oh HELL to the NO!”
After they went to church, the kids basically ignored her until after she walked out the door.
The other family! I am surprised that they were as open-minded and as sweet as they were with having the mother they had before. The substitute mother connected well the family, especially one child and she supported her when she was dancing and she was proud, there were feelings shared and omg, moments! Seriously, beautiful!
So after that, both mothers had to write letters to the other mom. This Christian mother kept saying “This is a test, this is a test from God,’ and I’m like, “Girl, I’m pretty sure you failed this test, because you went crazy over nothing.”
This mother was so close-minded and, frankly in my opinion, ignorant. And that is one trait I can not stand in people.
The other mother had no problems with this family, with the exception of the Christian mother’s friends, who basically attacked her for not being a Christian.
If anyone reads this, the one message I want you to walk away is STOP LABELING PEOPLE! Who cares if you’re Christian, Jewish, Atheist, Muslim, Gay, Straight, Goth, I DON’T CARE!
So, with that, the letters expressed what they went through and how this family uses the money. The Christian mother put almost no thought in it. She gave the kids some money, one of the kids got money for a dirt bike (wtf?) and gave them BIBLES! And then simply said the rest is for you guys to decide.
Whatever, the awesome family ended up being happy and connected and had more feelings!
Then, the real temper tantrum began. This Christian mother, I thought, was possessed into thinking everything the other woman touched was tainted and that she was dark and shouldn’t have gone in her house. Once she was there she started crying and yelling and then finally got the camera men out. She ripped the letter and denied the money, saying it's tainted. She blamed her family for not praying for her… what in the world…
I mean, I felt sorry for her family; they were crying and scared because their mother was losing it!
Anyway, the mother ripped up the letter and said she wanted nothing to do with the money. The letter had thoughtful sentiments and a lot of thought into dividing up the money. There was even money for the other mother to get surgery! This woman has the nerve to take the money back after saying she wanted nothing to do with it.
In all tense and purposes, the real saints were the non-Christian, open-minded, free-spirited family.
I consider myself a Christian, but not one that disregards everything as the Devil’s Work or dark-sided if it’s different. That’s just arrogance. If you live your life in a close-minded state and can not and will not see that everyone thinks differently than you, you will not make it in this world because thinking differently is human nature and if you can not adapt to what the future has to offer, you will not grow as a human. With new eras and technologies come new beliefs.
I felt like ranting because this mother was insane and its people like that that slowly destroy our world.
Holy crap, this is long...
Did I take this too seriously? …Probably. It's a rant. In half an hour, I'll be eating a cheese puff. That has nothing to do with this.
So, another show I love to hate. Are all the episodes as crazy as this one?
Yeah, maybe later tonight I’ll write something up about Dance Moms… oh geez.
