People on Sunday were asking me why I’m already running all these miles, ha! This kind of caught me off guard and I didn’t have a good answer at the time, ha again!
I think I babbled something about building on the base that has been the focus for me for most of 2014, which is all true. So is it really babbling? Is it? IS IT? *imagine enlarged eyes here*
I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t take runfies if I didn’t have a blog. Watevs.
But I can see how people would still be confused given the goal orientated mindset we live in (which I also contribute to and will fully own that).
Upon further thinking though, the core reason is that my debut marathon is in early April - Rotterdam is one of the earliest marathons of the spring. Some people I train with will be running Boston, which is also in April. But most are running either Toronto or Ottawa in mid-late May.
It’s fine if people are confused, but as I like to say, context is everything. The context for me is that I have an early marathon, and I’m aiming to BQ. A BQ is an achievable goal, but one I have to work hard for. The best thing I can do right now is keep ramping up the miles, especially if it’s not contributing to injury! So that’s that.
In terms of energy and fatigue, I was bracing myself for major fatigue after 3 days of running in snow on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. I was bracing myself for the brace yourself memes.
But I’m feeling pretty good, my body is adjusting to the mileage better than I thought, and either this week or next I’ll start adding a hill session in once a week. Can’t wait!
