What is wrong with you people. why do you think stereotyping people is magically okay as long as you're the one doing it. Bigotry doesn't stop being bigotry when you do it. It just means you're a fucking bigot.

When cis people only write trans guys as lithe pretty breedable boys I feel my blood boiling. I'm not saying every trans guy is masculine, but it feels weird that the stereotype is feminine and submissive in cis people's minds

I love Double Trouble, but the fact that they are the only they/them canon nonbinary character in the show and they’re nonhuman is a problem. It’s not just that they’re nonhuman- there’s Catra and all the other lizard folk. But other characters are visibly disgusted by Double Trouble’s look and mannerism in a way they’re just not visibly disgusted by any other nonhuman characters- indeed, any other characters in the show. No other characters receive on-screen disgust at their appearance besides Double Trouble. This is also uncomfortable because I think DT is transfem/AMAB coded. 

I think if they address this next season it would not be such a problem. If they talk full on about how Double Trouble receives negative reactions and disgust just for being who they are then they can turn it into an engaging way of addressing stigma. If they leave it as is... yeah. I love the character and am still glad we have them, but that’s super uncomfortable. I really hope they address this and am trying to have faith in the writers, but as a nb trans I’ve been let down before, even by queer writers.

Also like, a reminder that it's just as likely that a trans man is tall, typically masculine, aggressive, extroverted and unemotional as it is that we're the opposite. I'd love to see this kind of trans masc representation at least sometimes instead of just every one being the small, feminine, shy character. It really shouldn't be surprising that trans men can pass as cis.

Also taking a typically masc character and saying they're trans is a really great way of not only finding transphobes but confronting our own internalized transphobia.

And oh yeah, this doubly works by taking everyone's fave ultra feminine girl and saying she's trans, even though she literally could be and would still be a woman.

hello Tumblr! Does anyone have any good articles or masterposts for my cousin on negative trans stereotypes in media and art, for example on r.c.dart, red.kath.erine, tru.sc.um comparison comics, and so on and so forth?? I have tried to the best of my ability to tell her what I mean but with no sources I'm finding it a little tricky to show her the effect! thank you for your help! 💕
