Welcome to the club, Jairinho
Who do I know from #transtwitter that I can follow on here?
i hope when twitter finally dies the toxic, drama-farming discourse sphere of trans twitter dies with it.
If ya’ll wanna know how bad twitter discourse on trans issues are right now, there’s a whole brigade of infighting that showed up on a bunch of peoples algorithms based entirely on one abusive figure in the community. It’s now making trans men use terf talking points to insult trans women and trans women use cis power structures to insult trans men. I wish I was making this up.
There’s also a resurgence in transmed talking points being framed as “well, I’m just ENCOURAGING you to go on T” and things of the like while the “encouraging” in question is mostly just shaming and belittling and basically dragging nonbinary people and also eggs through the mud. It’s making a lot of people sore, reactionary and dysphoric.
As someone with PTSD from cis men in my life and also someone who’s struggled with dysphoria for years as an afab person, this has been poison to my mind and has given me a lot of depression and pushed me in a downward spiral for my mental health.
So yeah uh…. If you’re trans and trying to protect your mental health, please do not go on twitter right now. It’s really bad ya’ll.
There’s this tinfoil hat moment I’m having too wondering if this is happening as a distraction directly from HRT rights being taken away because I’m seeing less people talk about it now….
I would not be surprised if the algorithm is being manipulated in ways to drag people in this discourse also who were not previously in it before and honestly that is so fucking evil if that’s the case.
The prospect of twitter dying is genuinely upsetting to me despite the fact that it sucks and I hate it. Because in spite of everything, I'm part of a community on twitter. I met people and made friends. I genuinely grew as a person thanks to this niche community of mostly queer people who like to talk about politics. There's a huge amount of lore and history to it that will now only live on in the memories of those of us there to witness it, and in posts on other websites. It feels like the end of an era and I just hope I can preserve the friendships I made
Trans Twitter seems to have a jokey discourse over liking or disliking mayo 😂
