Today is my year post-op for stage 1 of #bottomsurgery with #DrChen !!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🎉🎈🎊 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A year ago I had the surgery I had known I wanted since before I knew it was possible. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thanks to my surgeon, I was able to create a type of #altphalloplasty that made me finally feel as close to home as possible inside my skin. 🔧🔪 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Since then, recovery has been healing myself both inside and out; for me, the physical toll my body took has absolutely been worth the immense emotional gain. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I have been fortunate and lucky to have support and love around me, and access to resources. I'm dedicated to spreading correct information, which is truly spreading hope, and resource access to others. The left picture was from 4 years ago. This was my first douchey mirror selfie 😝😝 but it never escaped my phone onto any sort of social media. I was too insecure to even flex at my reflection haha. I had just found CrossFit and was digging the muscle I was starting to see. To me, the biggest difference isn't seen in the muscle gain, but in how I hold myself. I was scared, lost, and confused about so many things at this point in my life and it shows. Sometimes I fear taking risks, but then I look back and see how it paid off when I did take a risk. It was a risk starting this journey. I feared losing my friends, family, faith, acceptance, and love. But I took a risk and found that the people that mattered the most stuck by my side and most importantly, I felt Alive. I've taken more risk than I realized. No use in stopping now. Fuck fear. Happy 5 months on T to me! First day on T on the right, exactly five months later in the left and 3 and a half months post-op. Not letting the stupid shit at the health clinic get me down because I'm still able to have access to testosterone shots and to have had my top surgery. I'm so grateful for the transition I'm experiencing and will always cherish all of it. I honestly can not say for certain that I would still be here if I wasn't given this chance at having my body put right. I'm thankful for this life and these experiences, some days are a struggle to get through but I know it is all making me a stronger and more whole hearted human. I had my pre-op appointment yesterday and everything became a reality. I am just days away from my hysterectomy. I am dreading the recovery time away from the gym but a good friend reminded me that this isn't just a surgery, it is a rebirth. I survived going through the wrong puberty, and before transition that is all life really felt like. Simply surviving. Now, I'm fighting back. I am taking back my life and finding closure for all of the years of living through the pain, confusion, shame, and self hate. One year ago today, I took my first step to coming out. I remember being absolutely terrified when I posted this. My heart was pounding, and my hands were shaking, but I knew that it was time to start truly living. I wasn’t sure who I was going to lose when I came out, but losing yourself is way worse than losing people who are not going to stick around and support you. This year I have gained way more than I have lost. I’ve gained a new perspective on life, confidence, support, and hope. I still have so much more to work on and life still has its ups and downs, but I am feeling more and more at peace. Thank you to everyone who has stuck around and supported me this year.
