Oh hey they adjusted some of the lines in the prologue? The weird "my classmate" changing to "you've trained your whole life to battle with arcanum I ... took a different path"
Sonetto's voice seems slightly lower in pitch to the original, but the lines sound less awkward now. Appreciate that the devs got around to fixing the dialogue here (I haven't checked the rest yet)
The "I ... took a different path" is interesting though, the line initially was meant to tell us that Vertin isn't as combat ready as Sonetto but that hesitation in the line contributes to the idea that Sonetto may not know the full scope of the Breakaway Incident or what lead specifically to Vertin being Timekeeper maybe? (Those four years still are a mystery)
More translation changes in Prologue: Chapter Storm Overture
(Image is the new redubbed lines and below is the original ones)
The "So until you can give it to me" is new (Vertin sounds more dubious here)
(og) - "The time of the Misty Bubble Ball is limited, so she must still be in this block!" (Less wordy + in the UK, road layouts and streets do not form blocks as seen in the US, so changing here was good)
(og) - "The unimproved Misty Bubble Balls has a special scent" (corrected the awkward wording + Sonetto as a puppy tracking them by scent lol)
(og) - "Whoo ... Poor me" (characterising Regulus as more apprehensive and suspicious of Vertin makes sense)
(og) - "The sudden thunder bring her back go reality" (changed probably for clarity)
(og) - "the building's outlines start to liquidise" (removed the overly complex wording)
(og) - "you can see something weird" (clarifies that what Regulus is seeing is what Vertin is also seeing, not just weird in general)
(og) - "Are these potions?" (Removed weird wording)
(og) - "the little thing is no longer with me!" (Removes the weird phrasing)
The last chapter of the Prologue might be longer or even split but overall the translation changes have cleared up most of the weird phrasing so far
If anyone is wondering about the redub of the prologue, Ive done it and looked at the significant changes to the translation and voice direction (idk to link here Im mobile and this is new sorry)
I compared to the global release version but I know Bluepoch have been adjusting words and phrases since release (eg "addio" at global was untranslated but by recent versions now is translated in text to goodbye, I don't think I need to explain where this line is 🍊)
General thoughts on Prologue changes:
The changes largely aimed to correct the weird phrasing, overly wordy and confusing lines, exposition about the Storm, characters are cleared up as before the weird wording of the Prologue made the story hard to digest for first time players.
Slight characterisation changes for Regulus reacting to Vertin, more distressed and suspicious because ofc when a tophat wearing 16 year old pushes you into a suitcase as the world you knew disappears, who wouldn't be?
Translation changes may clarify bits on the Storm (again in my account I just need someone to verify this is changes or clarifies anything) and hammers home Vertin as a character independent of the Foundation and you as a player ("It is my own will").
It will be interesting what changes will be made to Book One and Two, voice direction included as well (its particularly rough in the early parts of the Books but looking at the redub Im optimistic)
In other news : Im not ready for either 1.9 coming to global or 2.2 in CN servers being teased in the next few weeks (Am I ready on pulls? nope!)
Alright more translation differences in the Prologue
This is the Third Chapter Teleport: so far Ive noticed the accents of the male and female investigator have been changed and re dubbed (the male one lower and rougher and the female one as well seems lower, I think its the same ppl dubbing them but idk)
In general most lines here didn't receive a drastic change as the "my classmate" line but rather grammatically corrected or less awkward in phrasing or less wordy.
Lines like:
Sonetto - "see their leaving" to "see them off"
Female investigator - "Oh, and her arcane skill can also change the light! Please be careful of that!" To "Oh be careful! She can control light with her arcane skills".
I will go through the rest of the prologue I think (it was only the Prologue that got redubbed right, I don't need to go to Book One and Book Two right.)
More translation changes for Prologue Ch. Invisible pirate
This is gonna be a bit more in depth cause there's alot:
Also, that's her bike in her insight 2 right? (I don't have Regulus)
(Below I will put the image with the new lines and the original line below it)
(og) - "Victory blessed by England" (yea "Rule Britannia" is the better translation)
(og) - "she's not here again today? I'll take this motorbike if she doesn't show up"
Im guessing the change is to make it clearer that it's Regulus' bike they are referring to.
(og) - "bugger" is changed to "louse" (either one is fine but ok)
(og) - "Who are you?" (More suspicion on Vertin I think)
(og) - "Be quiet. Don't get caught! Take your chances around that cafe!"
(og) - "so yummy!" (She's also humming more here as well)
(og) - "The optical arcane skill to be invisible ... I now understand"
This is clarifying that this is Regulus's innate arcane skill to create optical illusions, not a random or standard one arcanists use (like Marcus' reading skill for example is unique to her)
(og) - "Who spilt my tea?"
(You know it would be funnier if she said cuppa instead but I digress)
(og) - "Your Foundation is just an authority working with governments"
Its singular, it makes more sense for Regulus to assume that the Foundation was working with the British Government in particular. Why assume the Foundation was working with multiple?
(I ran out of picture space lol) the last line is just:
"You'll know where I am, no matter where I go"
(og) - "my location will be exposed anywhere, anytime"
This is clarifying that registry with the Foundation means the Foundation can track her movements specifically.
Summary - Alot of the changes have been to clarify points about the story without being too wordy, changing phrases that sound awkward and overall I think the changes have been good.
