Oh by the way! If you like vampires (generally speaking) and don't know about the comics Requiem, my friend Alt236 made an amazing video a few years ago to explain the lore of the comics and present the universe.

And I'm the person behind the English subtitles (not perfect, but good enough to make the video understandable, I think?) (let me knoooow 👉👈)

Honestly, I read a few tomes of Requiem, and loved the atmosphere, the way they (re)-create Hell, the characters and the artistic direction. Mills and Ledroit created an amazing world, and Ledroit's artworks are absolutely amazing.

BUT... a few months ago Olivier Ledroit defended an abuser (on his own FB page) and I cannot forgive that. So I'll never buy new books involving Ledroit, even if Requiem will always be a part of my imaginary world.

A wonderful artist, but an misogynist.

Random shit translators have to translate part 2 

two pages of phone contacts with random names we will likely never see again as this is part of a dream daichi had.

Had to spend at least five minutes double confirming name readings, thanks furudate sensei :’) bet you had fun making up these names 

it’s okay the omikuji was more wtf    im glad the omikuji wasn’t a whole page because that shit is cryptic and waxes poetic all the time  *pray for asahi*

How does poetry get put through the translators? Does it just awkwardly direct-translate every word? Is it sophisticated enough to preserve metre or rhymescheme? Does it just turn off with a figurative-language-sensor?

So, the translators try to get it as close to like, native as it can. like not just word-for-word because some languages, like 23rd’s language, are just ENTIRELY based on context and if it just translated the words it would be unintelligible 

The translators keep getting updates and sometimes it can take hours to download them? i don’t know how they work like, i asked Coin/Fortune and he went on about emergent pattern learning and crowd sourcing and cloud sharing and I don’t know what any of that means? 

but like, really, quality of translation depends on the languages involved. if their language, and your language, is well known enough, or simple, it’s gonna be easy. if you’re doing two simple languages it’ll be great, if you’re doing simple to complex it’ll come across fine apparently, and if you do complex to simple yoooou tend to lose a lot of information but not enough to cause problems

i’ve tried to read some of 23rd’s poetry that she wrote in her native language and uh honestly, kind of just confusing. 

also the less proliferated the language is, the worse quality translation you’ll get

but apparently my language is relatively simple so most people don’t seem to have trouble understanding what i’m saying so HEY that’s cool
