i'm just confused that they were crying broke as to why episode 5 ended so messy and that they wanted to do so much more with it but lacked funds, and yet they're so confidently announcing a season 2? how can you make a second game (esp when sequels have strong potential to do worse than their predecessors), without already anticipating having to scrape up the funds to put out even a barely playable game?

But sequels also have the potential to do better than their predecessors, eg Half Life 2, Mass Effect 2, Red Dead Redemption, and although they are in a different genre the principal still stands. I think that Dontnod will know by this point what people liked and didn’t like and they can use this to make the sequel better. Also, now that the game has been a success, Square Enix will be likely to allocate a higher budget so everything will be finished. I still think that people were overly harsh at the ending to Season 1 and I doubt that negative reaction is something Dontnod want to repeat.
