1968 Gibson ES330 & my very favourite 1968 @traynor_amps YBA-2A Bassmate (6V6 model) with matching 1 x 15 cab.

2009 LesPaul Special 1965 Gibson GA17 amp 1966 Traynor YGA1 amp.

Now that I can roll my amps around willy-nilly (thanks to the all-new #RollingTHUNDER™ Amp Mobility System), I can rearrange my domestic noodling zones to suite any transient whim that grabs my fancy! So that is what I did with the living room yesterday - moved some chairs around and rolled the amps-du-jour into place! We shall see how long this set up lasts...I am notoriously fickle. 😆

There's something new in the #NoodleNook™ here at Casa #DeeBeeUs™, and it's not a guitar or amp. IT'S PEDALS!

Check it out...I am actually using TWO pedals! Today's rig is my 1957 #Fender#DuoSonic through my #EHX#HolyGrail Nano (for reverb) and my #Boss#FBM1 (for overdrive) into my 1965 #Traynor#BassMate.

So what gives?!? I never use pedals! Well, to put it simply: I got bored and wanted some raunch. 😂

PS: that FBM1 sounds fantastic. So fat and full. I think I bought it new about 13 years ago for around $100 CAD. Remember the days when pedals cost $100 CAD (~70 USD)? They are starting to fade from my memory...but I am still holding on! 😆

My landlord stopped me in the hall and asked if I wanted this guitar amp and organ amp just now. Unfortuently I only have a bass and an acoustic guitar. I did some research and the Traynor amp is all tube, hand wired original 1967 "YGM1" and is worth over $600. The Leslie Pro Line 820 is worth over $2000! Holy shit so stoked.

My guitar rig

In the interest of writing as often as I can (even poorly), about anything, in an attempt to develop a more consistent writing habit, I thought I'd make a post about my guitar rig. Hell, maybe kids will look this up some day to see how I get my sweet ass tone when I'm famous. (Probably not.)

The guitar

I just picked this up recently at a small consignment shop. It's a Fender Squier Telecaster with a Bigsby vibrato. Near as I can tell, it's a Fender Special Run made for Guitar Center sometime in 2009 or 2010. I haven't been able to find out when exactly it was made. It plays incredibly well. The action is so low that it almost plays itself. The sound is great as well. Not being one to fiddle with knobs or switches while I play, I tend to keep the selector switch in the middle. Keeps the tone full with just enough Telecaster spank.

The amp

A Traynor YCV20. Traynor is a Canadian company, part of the group that also makes Yorkville speakers. I bought this at the same consignment shop where I got my guitar. It's a pretty standard tube amp, really. Warm sound with enough volume to handle the gigs I generally play. I just like the way it sounds. Plus, it's my first tube amp. There's always a special place in your heart for your first.

The pedals

MXR 10 Band EQ. I use this as a mid-range boost for leads. By itself it pushes the Traynor to break up a bit. Used with my overdrive, it gets really loud. I have to be careful with feedback at those times.

MXR GT-OD. I've had this pedal for a few years now. I haven't found another overdrive or distortion that I like better. It sounds great, it's easy to use, and, like all MXR pedals, it's built like a tank.

Visual Sound Oil Can - phaser. I just picked this up recently, along with my other Visual Sound pedal. Not much I can say about it. It's a phaser. It sounds great --  especially for the price -- and it's easy to use. I use it to thicken up certain parts.

Electro-Harmonix Clone Theory - Stereo chorus and vibrato. Not the best chorus pedal. It's pretty noisy and gives my signal an annoying little boost. I've been using it lately for the vibrato. Low depth and high rate and it sounds a little bit like a Rhodes.

Visual Sound Axle Grease - delay. A basic, great sounding delay. Everything from Nashville slap to crazy acid trip. It's a hybrid analog/digital circuit so it doesn't have that sterile digital sound.

Yellow Dunlop picks (0.73mm), D'Addario EXL110s, Spectraflex cables and a Boss TU-2 tuner round out my setup, from my fingers to your ears.
