Book in the Spotlight: Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
Laini Taylor is best known for her Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy which consists of Daughter of Smoke and Bone, Days of Blood and Starlight, and Dreams of Gods and Monsters. She also wrote a short story collection called Lips Touch: Three Times, as well as a story called The Girl Who Woke the Dreamer for the My True Love Gave To Me anthology by Stephanie Perkins.
In her latest book Strange the Dreamer, we follow junior librarian and orphan Lazlo Strange as he embarks on the biggest adventure of his life: a journey to the mythical city Weep. 200 years ago every sign of existence from Weep practically disappeared, 15 years ago the city’s name was stolen from people’s minds. Lazlo’s dream is to discover what exactly happened to Weep until one day he seizes the opportunity to go and fulfil that dream.
Strange the Dreamer is the first book in a duology, the second book is called The Muse of Nightmares and will be published next January. While Strange the Dreamer introduces us to the world of Weep and its problems, its ending shows that there’s a lot in store for the next book. If you like fantasy, gorgeous writing and unique stories, Strange the Dreamer is definitely the book for you!
