My psychiatrist who insists I can't take my ADHD meds every day or I'll become an addict no longer takes my insurance, which is nice, but the local ADHD specialist clinic is only taking refferals for minors because they are swamped, which is NOT nice, because I want to switch up what kind of medication I take.
I am looking for places that do take my insurance, reading their very long treatment philosophies and exclaiming "come on, I just want my meds!" which does not feel fantastic, given that my previous doctor's treatment subtly indicated his conviction that ADHD treatment with medication was a slippery slope towards addiction. Did he think I just claimed to have ADHD because, you know, recreational drug use is my favorite hobby? It's not. It's never been. I live in a state with legal recreational weed and my reaction to it is meh. When I bitch about every show with a character with ADHD deciding it needs a joke where that character decides to sell their medication, THIS is why. Because that sentiment has so far directly impacted my treatment.
Ok, vent session over. Time to call the other two clinics on my list.
