They move through the crowd with a fluid gracefulness, weight balancing on the balls of their feet, ready to dance out of anyone's grasp should they become handsy. They are their own protector tonight, with precautions in place to prevent any from underestimating her. That boldness, and knowing that they possess knowledge that is still desired by many, is what gives Kore the bright idea of walking up to the vampire that had once casually accosted them at a club, with a story from a time that Kore had believed was gone.

"Tressa Shaw, co-owner and proprietor of Embrace, a quaint little funeral parlor formerly known as Shaw and Sons." They reel off the details with a sly grin, a callback to their last meeting. "You know, I have to commend you on the irony of being a vampire who works with the actual dead, not just the living dead." They tip an imaginary hat to her. "So how's it feel to be part of the in-crowd now?" / @tressashaw

The steady hum of conversation and general ambience from the other patrons of the bar fill their senses as they casually swirl the glass of whiskey in their grasp and watch as the legs slowly crawl down the sides. The translucent patterns left behind are a feeble substitute for the swirls of blood and flesh that circle behind their eyelids. Still, they can appreciate the drink itself.

Eyes are fixed on them, which isn't a new phenomenon, but it's reaching the point that Kore is tiring of waiting. A split second decision before the witch is lifting their head and meeting the stare of a young woman who hasn't been able to take her eyes off of them. The next moment has them rising from their seat and closing the distance between them, glass balanced delicately in their fingers as they lean in close to be heard over the din of the establishment.

"Can I interest you in conversation or would you rather keep staring?"

It wasn't Hester's first trip to the city morgue and definitely not the last. One of her ally's children had recently gone missing - another one bites the dust - hunters' lives were always on the line when they were out for blood, but when vampires got a whiff of children being around? It was only a matter of waiting before that ticking time bomb went off. Hester had searched far and wide the second she had been contacted by her ally. The police had been doing their job as soon the call had come in to the station, Hester didn't doubt it - but she could go further where authorities stopped. She ran faster, she saw and heard more, she visited places authorities were too chickenshit to scout. Or at least, the human kind. Leo was of her kind, could pull strings too and find out more than the regular cop as a sheriff - but sometimes even her hands were tied. By laws, by restrictions, by - the call had came in as a shock.

Leo had found the girl. Deceased, her body as cold as ice and drained almost empty from blood. She'd been identified by the parents who must be devastated right now - Hester could only imagine. If she'd ever lost her baby brother, she - she couldn't think of that right now. Her second thought had been Tressa, who had to care for the young body.

She had brought coffee, as if that'd make the situation better, she'd done it on auto pilot like she always did. Stepping inside the place, she always felt so disoriented at first. Though it wasn't much different from the hospital, she rather did not go down to the morgue. The smell was different, however sanitized, Hester could smell death.

''Tressa?'' her voice came out more fragile than she meant to, she took a hold of herself right away. ''Tressa - hi,'' the blonde's step was light when she moved closer to the familiar face popping out. ''Hey, how are you holding up? I...I heard about the girl and thought-'' her glance moved over to the cup she was holding, still scorching hot but Hester carried it without a sleeve. ''I brought you coffee.''
