The Troubadoors is a web-series powered by SMU grads and current film majors. It's pretty much the coolest shit out there.
GET OUT THERE AND "AROUSE" AMERICA!
Today is Election day! So, get out there and cast your vote on who you want to be your next president!
If we're lucky maybe in season 2 of the The Troubadoors we'll get an Election Day episode! But in the mean time, after you're done casting I recommend taking a look at the Patriot Day episode.
Troubadoors "Labor Day" Review
Hello! Hello! Welcome to our fan blog! I'm going to kick us off with giving a review of the first episode of season one "Labor Day".
Before I begin, for those who haven't seen this episode yet please hop on over to http://www.thetroubadoors.com or youtube and give it a watch. (You wont be disappointed!) **Warning for strong language**
When I first began this episode I had absolutely no idea what to expect. We're originally greeted with an E-invite on crack, a main character who appears to be a very socially awkward, a clear gay guy and typical blonde bitch and I had been wondering if this was some how a strange Glee Parody. (Come on... that male judge had some very Kurt like aspects to him) And then as Alam sings (A song that I thought was incredibly passable! Ricco has an amazing voice) we're introduced to the rest of our ragtag choir as one after another their hopes of joining the almighty Harmonics are dashed. Kayla Bates- The anime nerd with a lisp and clear crush on Alam Spencer Caper- Alam's roommate and a very experimental cook (First famous for his Bacon Bit cookies) Camille Prescott: Affectionately dubbed "up-chuck" for the all too obvious reason why she failed the Harmonics Audition Jane Adams- A poetic girl who borders on "Hipster" obsessed with Felix Brown Paul Tebo- The gruff gay frat boy (Three things that usually dont go together, but in this case it makes for one hilarious combination) There are short awkward conversations, various points of douche-baggary (Or Douche Nozzler as affectionately dubbed by Paul Tebo) before we finally jump head first into what makes this show as amazing as it is! This is only the first episode and while it starts off a little slow at first it most definitely picks up with the humor, plot, and feel for the characters. Especially once we meet the Troubadoors' manager, one Mr. Felix Brown. A blind and slightly eccentric poet with a mouth like a sailor. Through various curse slinging and strange comparisons he encourages the group to write their first song "Labor Day" while shoving Bacon Bit sugar cookies in his mouth. (The line "Cookie Me" will now forever be immortalized in my home) Between the dynamics of the characters, the amazing hilarious writing and one liners, and the catchy and well put together songs this is one web series that has had me coming back for more, tapping my foot to the beat, and downloading the songs from iTunes to listen to over and over again. The series itself has a little something for everyone no matter what fandom you fall into with nods towards Anime (Obviously... Its a web series created by Brina Palencia with the help of a few other Funimation VAs), Comics, and various other Pop-culture and nerd-esque subjects is really hard to go wrong.
Over all I give the first episode a 9.5/10 which is a hell of a start!
Please feel free to reblog and let us know what YOU think of the Troubadoors, follow us on Tumblr and Twitter and help us continue to show our support for The Troubadoors and spread the word!
