Sometimes you gotta love trope subversion with trpg characters.
Such as with my warlock in my main D&D campaign
Expectation: unbridled thirst for knowledge, questionable morals with a questionable patron
Reality: gives bandits platinum pieces and tells them to live an honorable life, names her horse Professor Mare, PHd, wants to make potion soap because she’s convinced it’s an amazing innovation, once got to hug her patron and cried for at least an hour
And then my Chosen One in the Monster of The Week game I’m in
Expectation: burning passion to do good, dutiful, no questionable morals here
Reality: has slept maybe five hours total this week, chain laso’d a normal ass person and didn’t see anything wrong with it, “I help good people AND monsters, and fight bad monsters AND people, what didn’t you get about that?” Has lunch with the neighborhood aunties’ daughters who are having a rough time because they backed themselves into a corner with a lie
...... i love them both equally
