Help! I want to learn Korean! I know how to read 한글, I just can't translate anything or read very fast. I am also bad at memorizing words a little. I want to be able to learn words, then how to make sentences, then be able to have a small conversation. Do you have a list of books or know any books on Amazon I could buy to help me? 감사합니다!
Hello! I suggest Korean Made Easy for Beginners by Seung-Eun Oh. The book is designed in a fun way and contains practice exercises and an audio CD. It begins with 한글 but also has a good amount of vocabulary, phrases, grammar patterns, simple verb conjugations, cultural notes, and example conversations. There are also sections about telephone numbers, telling time, and similar subjects.
The KLEAR textbooks are also helpful. They have a slightly more academic feel and focus more on grammar and vocabulary but include cultural notes, practice exercises, and practice conversations as well. (I would suggest Beginning 1.)
Both of these books are available on Amazon. I have personally used these books and think that they are the best for beginners. I own Korean Grammar in Use (Intermediate), so my guess is that the Beginning level of that series is good too.
