Scattered part 1

This is the start of the AU behind these drawings. more will def follow because I’m having wayyy too much fun!

Logince. Roceit friendship. Maaaybe future loginceit but idk yet.

Okay this is heavely inspired by (my slightly spotty recollection of) tsubasa reservoir chronicle which I recommend if you like soulmates and memory magic and pretty art.

Roman is the Prince of a kingdom where magic is real

Mages in this world work as conduits for magic, moving magical energy from one place to another in order to perform ‘miricals’, grant wishes etc. They draw on the magical power in the universe but are not normally the source of that power.

Roman though - he is born with an absurd amount of raw magical power

Like, if you don’t learn to control this it WILL end up overwhelming you and destroying large chunks of the world level of power

His parents have all the royal mages bind his powers as best they can when he’s very, very young, sinking the power into the earth.

He grows up in the palace, forbidden from leaving, unaware of the full extent of his magical ability.

Hes super indulged (apart from the whole imprisoned in his own palace thing) so he grows up as a pretty spoiled, arrogant, prince with a longing for adventure and no clue how the world actually works.

Using magic in this universe is a trade off- you have to pay a price. In order to bind Romans powers his parents had to give up the thing most important to them - their love for him and each other.

So, although they give Roman everything he could possibly want, they are no longer capable of truly caring for him. Their original motivation (bind the magic to protect him) has become ‘bind the magic to our kingdom to keep us Strong.

Despite this, as Roman gets older and his power gets stronger the cost of containing it grows and large areas of the kingdom slowely start to fall into ruin: famine, buildings rotting away etc etc.

The mages eventually have had Enough - they were only meant to bind the powers until The Prince was strong enough to control them, and it looks like that will never happen as he’s too busy daydreaming and eating pastries to even focus on his basic magic lessons.

They decide to kill him, or at least imboalise him, and use his powers for themselves. His parents are fine with this as long as his power can still be useful.

Enter - Dee.

Dee is an orphan who came from nothing but is determined to one day rise to role of royal vizier which is about as powerful as you can get without being born royalty.

As an apprentice mage he travels a lot with his master but he also spent a lot of his time growing up in the palace.

He and Roman had the same teachers of magic (although Dee took the lessons a LOT more seriously) and sometimes Dee got to attend Romans lessons in history, science etc as well

Dee would absolutely NOT say that Roman is his best friend because Roman is a ridiculous spoiled little brat who loves Dees stories and shares his wealth and food with him easily and is really quite kind but like WHATEVER he can afford to. Dee is totally using him. Totally.

Except he gets wind of the whole “kill the Prince and steal his magic” plan and even though getting more power should be his number one goal he finds he can’t accept it.

Dee goes to Roman and tells him as much as he knows, and tries to convince him to run away

Roman won’t do it. He’s too fixated on the idea of the kingdom being damaged and people being hurt because of his magic (Dee: that’s not YOUR fault though?? Who cares??)

Roman decides he will sacrifice himself willingly. His parents don’t love him, and his teachers are plotting to use his powers but The People love their prince and he doesn’t want to be the cause of any more pain to them (Dee: what makes you think they love you?? YOUVE NEVER BEEN OUTSIDE YOU BEAUTIFUL IDIOT)

Dee finds this unnacceptable.

New plan.

The mages are going to bring Roman to a protected tower and unleash the binds separating him from his power. If it doesn’t overwhelm and kill him instantly they will then attempt to direct it using the tower as a kind of lightning rod.

Dees plan is at the moment that Romans power is free of its bindings Dee will separate it into pieces, and send each piece to another world. Separate it so far that no one mage will be able to recombine it.

It’s an incredibly complicated bit of magic. Which is way way WAY beyond apprentice level but they’re desperate. Roman is unsure but Dee convinces him this is actually safer for everyone - by separating the power no one will be able to use the full extent of it and it won’t ever be able to cause as much damage as it would combined.

In order to make the magical exchange Roman has to give up what’s most important to him - his title of prince, his claim to the kingdom, his life in the palace. He will be a nobody with no title and no power but he will be alive.

(Dee is also sacrificing something - his connections to royality,his dream of becoming royal vizier....he’s not going to bother Roman with that though)

So the day comes, Roman goes willingly when they come for him and Dee follows with the other Mages.

The plan works!

Kind of.

There are several explosions and the towers is gone.

Also Roman is gone.

When the magic was unleashed from its bindings it moved a lot faster then anyone anticipated. Returning to Roman instantly and fully and completely merging with his soul.

When Dee attempted to rip his power into pieces he also ended up ripping Romans soul into pieces. Sending shreds of it accros multiple worlds.

Dee doesn’t know what happened to Romans body - did it also get sent to another world? Did it burn up in the explosions? Vaporised by the magic itself?

Dee gets left behind.

The trades they had prepared for their attempt weren’t nearly enough, even before you add shredding a soul in, and Dee finds his body has been permently changed by the magical fall out. His ears are pointed. There are scales covering most of his left side. His vision is damaged. He’s so so tired.

The surviving Mages and the royal household don’t seem to remember why they were there in the first place but they also don’t recognise Dee and he’s chased off quickly.

Dee needs a new plan.

Moving energy between worlds is hard. Moving a person is unheard of (or at least he’s never heard of it) but he decides learning to jump between worlds is his only option.

If Roman is somehow alive and he finds him? Great. Unlikely. But great.

More pressing though - if he can find a piece, just one piece, of Romans soul/power it might be enough to undo the damage to his body and restore his humanity.

Dee is back to having nothing but he starts to scheme.

Scattered part 2

Part 1

Logince fantasy AU somewhat based off of tsubasa reservoir chronicles

This part is a bit shorter but I figure little and often is the best way to actually get this finished.

(Also in the original drawing this started as Logan and Roman def look older then they’re described here. thats not foreshadowing anything I just hadn’t decided they were gonna be wee)

Logan Sanders is a high school student who loves maths and cats and wishes he didn’t think Elon Musk is as cool as he does

(“Yes I am aware all billionaires are inherently morally deficient but he sent a car into SPACE Roman”)

Roman Prince is Logan’s best friend.

Roman is 5 days younger then Logan and loves singing and theather and getting Passionate About Causes.

They’ve known each other since they were both extremely small. Neither of them can actually remember meeting for the first time but their parents have many, many embarrassing baby photos to share.

People who don’t know them wouldn’t assume they were best friends - they’re the kind of friends who express their love through constant arguing and teasing. Who support each other by pushing each other.

Roman has big dreams and an over active imagination. Logan thinks most of his goals are entirely unrealistic and his life would be vastly improved if he could only Calm Down.

Logan is fastidious and takes forever to complete anything as he has to break it down into 1000 micro tasks which must be ticked off in order. Roman thinks he’s such a stick in the mud life is going to pass him by completely.

Neither of them are much good with other people (Roman being Too Much and Logan being Not Enough) but they’ve got each other. They get each other.

When they were little they used to spend a lot of time at this quirky old antique shop that’s equidistant from both their houses.

The owner is this older dude called Emile who was happy to watch them and would tell them stories about every single item in there.

Roman was always totally enraptured. Logan used to enjoy it but the older he got the more he found himself rolling his eyes at Emile’s stories. They tend to include a lot of magic and silliness and are generally NOT historically accurate.

Also he never seems to sell anything?? Logan once tried to convince him to let him set up an Etsy for the shop but Emile just laughed and said his shop was for granting wishes, not making money.

Logan worries about his business practices.

Anyway.

There’s this dance coming up at school.

Logan doesn’t really like dances or parties but he knows about this one because Roman got himself on the planning committee and hasn’t talked about anything else since.

Roman talks about the colour scheme and the food and the music and the lgbtq+ inclusivity posters he made unprompted. And the timing and the dress code and the drinks and his outfit (he talks a lot about his outfit).

He doesn’t talk about who he’s going with.

He does ask Logan if he’s got a ticket, and then WHY hasn’t he got a ticket and then WILL you get a ticket? For me? I mean, in solidarity with me and the planning committee?

And Logan does because he has a hard time saying no to Roman.

And. Because it’s kindve nice. How badly Roman wants him there.

(And because secretly he thinks it would be kind’ve nice to go to the dance with Roman. Like. Together together.)

He sort of thought maybe Roman was going to ask him. They were watching the Witcher - in their own homes but texting, (and then talking over the phone because Logan has a lot more video game v books v show thoughts then he can quickly express through type) - and Roman interrupted him to say “I needtoaskyousomething...”

-and then there was this pause where Logan absolutely did not hold his breath-

“ .... tomorrow. I’Il ask you tomorrow. Promise.”)

Logan tells himself not to expect anything. Roman could very well be about to ask him to pick up extra napkins for the dance or something. But he’s a little giddy getting ready for school anyway.

They normally meet outside Emile’s shop and walk to school together from there. Today, Logan is there first like normal. Unlike normal Emile actually has a customer - there’s a larger guy standing behind Logan looking at the window display.

Later, Logan will blame the fact that he’s too busy staring at Roman running to meet him, too busy thinking ‘I’ll ask you tomorrow” over and over, too busy standing there being dumb basically - for why he doesn’t notice the guy turn around.

‘The guy’ who doesn’t really have a human face. Or human eyes.

But he’s definitely staring at Roman too.

I think anyone familiar with tsubasa can probably figure out who they’re based on already tho 🤔
