Saccharine Pop! and 8Bitto Pop!
A raised-contrast action set of @pastry-box’s colors
Phew! Done! Another set of actions, and I’m finished with making them for quite a while. Once again, these actions are based off of an existing palette, this time (deactivated) @pastry-box’s Saccharine and 8Bitto Cafe palettes. (I would advise getting the S4S palette files and/or hex codes from those downloads, as I haven’t included them myself). The problem with the originals (just in my personal opinion!) was that they tended to wash out the texture of whatever they were run on and make it look a bit taffy-like, as @namea put it. So once again I took the lovely @pooklet‘s actions (with permission!) and modified them to use these colors, and I think they look wonderful!
Also unlike the original, this action set is not run over an EA blonde, but a gray! I used an EA white (which is more of a gray) and adjusted it to have +30 brightness and +30 contrast, but in general, here’s the color range you want to match:
Make sure your highlights aren’t pure white, or they might blow out. You may want to make a small action that just desaturates your texture and adjusts the b/c by +30/+30, but I prefer to tune mine manually in case one artist’s textures don’t fit the mold. If you’re unsure, run a light action, a dark action, and a saturated action to check to see if it’s where you’d like it to be!
For myself personally, the secondary IDs for Saccharine Pop! start at 3400, and 8Bitto Pop! at 3600. I plan on pairing these with my Autumn in August palette actions, which I start at 3100. 8Bitto includes four more tones than shown here, cut from the preview because they overlap with Saccharine pretty heavily, so inclusion is your call.
