58. Any interesting stories from the lab?
Some beetles have dicks that are bigger than their bodies and if you preserve them in ethanol they just hang all the way out and if you have a large jar of them and try to pour a few onto a petri dish you’ll instead get like 6 pairs of beetles lovingly intertwined by their dicks. There’s actually a species of Aleocharinae that has a dick so long that someone wrote a whole paper about how it has to do a dance that involves throwing its dick over its shoulder so it can reel it back into its body like a tape measurer.
