Darkness bleeds: Part 12
“Shit, doors are open.” Sagittarius mumbled, walking in with the hero crew they made.
“Why are you saying it like it’s a bad thing?” Flynn asked, ringing out rain water from his scarf. “It’s better than spending forever trying to pick the locks.” He shrugged.
“Yeah well, it could mean that Eons already here, and for all we know, in some serious danger.” Snapshot raised his traptanium bow and arrow, preparing himself for possible danger. “Stay sharp, everyone. With these freaks, you never know what could happen-“
They all jumped and stood defensively when a.. vase fell. The crew slowly relaxed their stances as they realized it was just some pottery, probably not very cheap pottery, but it’s better than a cult junkie. Cali could’ve sworn she saw a bird ish like shadow though..
“Better keep moving. We have no idea what this place it’s like.” Buzz grumbled, holding his gun in front of him.
An eagle like figure then bolted right in front of them and stood ground, holding his vac gun as it whirred. “Drop your weapons cult fre-.. What in the name of Skylands?” Jet vac lowered his weapon as he stared at the crew in shock.
“JV!?” Stealth elf shouted. “What are you doing here?”
“I could ask you lot the same thing. What do you think you’re doing!?” The eagle rose a feathered brow.
“Uh.. hero stuff?” The pilot shrugged.
“That I’m guessing you’re also doing?” Roller brawl answered to her best ability to sound as serious as possible.
“It’s not ‘hero stuff’ it’s ’getting Spyro and Eon out of her safe and sound and make sure Eon doesn’t get himself killed with as little trouble as possible’.” Jet vac exhaled heavily. “I can’t believe you all going behind Eons back like this!”
“Oh yeah, like you aren’t, bird boy?” Mags sassily placed her fist on her hips.
“We ain’t got time for this, we have some idiots to rescue!” Buzz exclaimed.
“Easier said then done, don’t ya think?” A familiar mob boss-ish voice was heard from above. Standing on a higher floor was Melancholy leaning against the railing and Moneybones just standing with his arms crossed, staring down maliciously. “I mean, come on now, we kicked your guys’ ass at the academy.”
“Well, there wasn’t very much of us, and you ran away like cowards once Eon came, so..” Flynn smugly responded.
“And what makes you think we don’t still have an upper hand here, fool?” Moneybones stroked his mustache.
“I mean, just look at us, it’s only two of you and uh.. I forgot how many of us, but it’s definitely more than two! Boom!” The pilot smirked, watching more of the cult members come out of the shadows, surrounding the heroes. “.. I guess that’s more than two as well, boom withdrawn.”
“Now, we can do this the easy way, which is you surrender now and-or join us and you don’t get hurt, or we rip out your intestines from your throat. Which is it, Skyguys?” Melancholy smiled widely, his left eyebrow raised.
The hero crew just got in defensive positions, pulling out weapons, preparing powers, ready to fight off these guys.
“Hard way it is then!” The imp cocked four guns, and pointed them at the hero crew below, ready for a fight.
In the basement
Eon blasted again at Strykore, missing by a mere inch, dodging the dark portal masters attempts to blast him.
“You can’t dodge forever, Eon!” He yelled, blasting again only for it to be dodged. “The darkness will be freed!”
“Strykore, whatever happened in the past won’t be fixed by freeing it.” Eon blasted a heavy gust of wind at him. “Nothing can be fixed by the darkness!”
Strykore growled and blasted electric bolts at Eon, electrocuting the light portal master, making him yell in pain. “You were the one that said I would make a difference in the world. You were the on who filled my head with dreams.” Tears started forming in the cult leaders eyes as he held Eon in the painfully electric grip. “You told me not to listen to Bellatriks’ horrid berating and to keep on moving, and the same man to give me hope that I could do hard things despite being seen as weak among my peers stabs me in the back!” He threw Eon across the room as hard as possible. “All I wanted was my brother to be proud of my efforts, to be proud that I listened to his encouragement!”
“Strykore-” Eon weakly got out, barely able to get up.
“Tell me, Eon. How proud are you!?” Strykore used the lightning like magic to lift up the other portal master, slamming him back and forth across the walls, his head bleeding. “Go on tell me!” He yelled, slamming Eon down onto the floor as hard as possible. “TELL ME, EON!”
Eon yelled in pain, his leg broken as well as one of his ribs, coughing up a small amount of blood. He forced himself up only by a few inches, knees on the ground. “Strykore.. I was always proud of you. You were improving every day, little by little, despite your teachers discouragement.. I’m-.. I’m sorry that I didn’t do more for you back then.” He winced in pain as he got off his knees, turned around and sat down. “I’m sorry I didn’t stop all this from happening.. I’ve tried avoiding your name to hopefully forget about everything that happened, but no matter how hard I try, I’ll always remember.” Eons eyes starting getting watery. “I’ll anyways remember how bad I failed you.. I’m sorry, Strykore.”
Strykore’s face softened, some guilt creeping into his expression as he looked at the beaten portal master. Surprised Eon would even say that to him after all this time.
Meanwhile, Spyro flew down the stairs (quite literally) to the basement as fast as he could. “Okay, undead portal master said the basement is down a few more steps, just gotta make this turn!” He mumbled, turning to the left of the stairs. “Hopefully, they’re wrong about eon going battle mode with Strykore.” The dragon muttered to himself, soon having his fears confirmed once he reached the basement, watching Strykore kneel down to Eon’s level.
“Eon, I-..” the portal master shook his head softly. “Eon, that all can be fixed, we just need to free the darkness! It can help! Our magics much stronger together!”
“Eon..?” Spyro uttered, getting the attention of the two portal masters.
“Spyro-“ Eon got out, still wincing as his head pounded.
“What did you do to Eon!?” The dragon demanded to know, watching the cult leader get up quickly.
“N-now this isn’t what it looks like-“
“Why do you bother defending yourself at this point?- you know what you’re doing!” Spyro exclaimed, the anger being ever so clear in his voice. “You know you’re destroying everything! Pretending to be able to fix it all with the darkness- what has the darkness actually done for you?!”
“It’s done more than you’ll ever realize, you idiotic lizard!” Strykore snapped back.
“Don’t you dare call him that!” Eon forced himself to yell, coughing a small amount of blood again.
“Eon, let me just heal you real quick, then we can continue with the plan and you and your son can go home-“
“Your plan isn’t gonna work! Or has that not gotten through your thick skull yet?” The dragon yelled again with more anger.
“Don’t make me back out of my promise..” Strykore threatened, not noticing Eon’s expression of concern at these words.
“Go ahead, prove my point, cult guy!”
“It’s not a cult!” Strykore prepared some magic orbs before a dark purple blast hit him, knocking him down and making him unconscious.
Spyro was stunned, turning around to see were the blast came from.. the undead portal master? Kira panted, a look of fear on her face as they let their arms down.
“Shit, I’m gonna pay for that later.” She muttered, watching the light portal master get up slowly, groaning and grunting in pain.
“Eon!” Spyro went over to him, flying up some to help him walk. “Are you okay?”
“Just peachy.” Eon shrugged sarcastically, chuckling before wincing again as Spyro helped him to the door as he turned to Kira. “Your help is appreciated, young one. But you know you must leave this place, don’t you?” He spoke softly, watching them look down guilty.
“Easier said than done.” Kira mumbled, hearing Eon sigh.
“It’ll take time, I suppose.” Eon nodded softly before going out the door with Spyro helping him.
Kira looked at the unconscious Strykore, tearing up. “I’m sorry, lord Strykore.” They murmured. “But I can’t keep hurting people.”They got out, her voice shaky and lip quivering.
Back at the battle
Flynn and Cali could be seen fighting off Moneybones and Melancholy at their best ability, much better than they did at the academy anyway. Flynn threw grenades at the big of groups of cult baddies that surrounded the Skylanders, yelling boom as each cult guy scattered.
Snap shot shot his traptanium arrows at whoever was stupid enough to attack him, even using them as swords when these fools got too close for comfort.
Jet vac trapped whoever he could in nets as stealth elf watched his back, killing anyone who tried to sneak up on him.
The cadet crew were doing well for themselves. Food fight shot tomato’s at enemies faces to help chill freeze them easier, torch burned someones eye out, chopper blasted rockets from his pack, blowing up enemies, Blades used his.. well, blades, to slice through undead chompys, an Cynder used her laser breath to electrocute anyone that came close.
“Kickin’ cult ass!” Déjà vu shouted, swinging painyatta into broccoli guy and Bad Juju.
Eon and Spyro walked into the battle mess, in unbelief of what they saw. “.. I told them I’d be going alone, and they did not listen to my wishes.” Eon mumbled, annoyed.
“Yeah well, you just had your ass beat by your own brother, so.” Spyro smiled awkwardly once he got a more annoyed look from the portal master.
“Keep talking about it, and you’re grounded.” He grumbled, coughing before murmuring some spell under his breath, eventually sensed a blast wave that knocked all of the cult baddies down, to the hero crews surprise.
“Huh.. thought this would go on for at least an hour.” Mags raised a brow, confused.
Jet vac gasped once he saw the elder portal masters state. “Eon!” He ran over to him, making sure he was alright.
“I-I’m alright, Jet vac, nothing a few herbs can’t fix.” Eon reassured.
“I mean, yeah, but they taste gross.” Flynn shrugged, shuddering at the idea of those herbs. “Anyways, let’s just ignore the plot armor and how nothing makes sense anymore and get outta here, yeah?”
The heroes ran out to the ship to their best ability, cadets high diving each other for kicking cult butt as they ran to the aircraft. “I can’t believe you took cadets onto this mission.” Eon rose a brow as he watched the young students boast and cheer about their battle.
“Well, we cant believe you went to fight a powerful cultist by yourself.” Sagittarius’ words got a glare from the elder portal master, making her chuckle awkwardly. “Sorry, Master Eon.”
“Maybe listen the next time we say ‘take some damn help’?” Eon sighed in annoyance at Buzz’s smart ass tone, but at least this fight was over.. for now.
