Cryptids & Creatures of Folklore Drawtober Day 3 — Tshenkutshen

In the jungles of Ecuador there are reports of a jaguar-like animal with a dark, shaggy coat and colorful stripes on its chest. It is also said to have monkey-like forepaws which still retain cat-like claws. Also called the Rainbow Tiger, this feline is said to be primarily arboreal.

There are reports of it attacking humans. One was supposedly shot in the late 1950s after it leapt down from a tree onto an unsuspecting passerby.

Cryptid of the Day: Tshenkutshen

Description: Cryptozoologist Angel Morant collected accounts from people around Macas, Ecuador, of a creature that resembles a feline but with monkey-like hands, called the Tshenkutshen. Its most unique feature are stripes on its underbelly, which are colored like a Toucan beak.
