MRT virgin
My bestest cousin dropped by for a much needed break last week. Since she was aching to watch "A Love Story", she scoured the newspapers, looking for the movie schedule. Lucky her, it was still being shown in Gateway. So off we went to Gateway. Problem is, we didn't know how to get there. I was behind the wheel and I asked my dad how to get to Gateway and he advised that we take the MRT since it is the most convenient. I was advised to park the car at a nearby mall and ride the train. Ok. Palpitations right there. See, I don't know how to commute. Well, let me clarify that. I know how (like ride the jeep and what not) but I don't exactly relish it. I would rather take my car and brave the traffic and get lost than commute. But, my cousin....Ever the Filipino at heart, craving for the comforts found only in our crazy country, actually ENJOYED the madness seen only in the streets of Manila. She was such a trooper riding the jeeps and the MRT, I actually enjoyed it myself. As an almost virgin with our MRT system (I think I have ridden it a total of 5 times from the time it opened), I was holding the line since I was inserting th card incorrectly. Hey, don't blame me. My college blockmates told me, "Asshole first", referring to Erap's face printed on the card. So this time, with GMA's face on the card, I told myself, "Bitch first". Until I realized, the bitch, ever the VIP was supposed to be last. Tee-hee. Bloopers abound when you are with me on a virgin trip. It slipped my mind that the station we boarded in was the first station so naturally, it was an entire set of empty cars that greeted us. Alas, this was not the case from the Cubao to Santolan ride. So there we were, first in line, waiting for the train to arrive, blabbing our mouths off, battling with the din in the station. And then came the train, and since Cubao is right smack in the middle of many stops, of course the train was full. So with my annoyingly loud voice, without even braking stride from the conversation I was having with my cousin, I blurted out, "What the hell is that?!" I think my cousn wated to throttle me right there. Everyone within hearing distance (and there was a lot!) threw me an, "Are you serious?" look. All in all, I think it was an experience I wouldn't mind going through again. Riding the MRT, that is. Now, if only I can charm someone into bringing me to the station... I can proudly say, "Recto, here I come!"

We were having our Sunday merienda at Heaven's Gate and Papa went over to return his empty plate. My Lola then handed him the bucket of turon and Papa declined saying, "Ayoko. Mabubusog ako." My Lola then retorted to Papa's retreating back, "Eh baket? Kaya nga tayo kumakain, para mabusog!" Oo nga naman... 'Kaw talaga Papa oh!
