Honestly, I hate fish and pretty much all types of seafood. I’m more of a “groundfood” kind of guy — you know the stuff, it either grew out of or walked on top of the ground. Yeah, that’s my jam. Hire me to write stuff

For the last few years I’ve been writing about Apple for TUAW.com. It’s been a dream come true to be a professional writer, but AOL doesn’t believe in dreams* so they’ve closed our site. Now I’m looking for places that will give me money in exchange for words.

I can write about movies, music, Apple, pop culture, tech, sex advice, comedy, books, and silly gifs about dogs. The main thing is I have a wife to feed and cats to keep from divorcing me, and money helps those things happen.

There goes another one. AOL is shutting down The Unofficial Apple Weblog, better known as TUAW, sources familiar with the situation tell The Verge. The company — which is also shutting down its gaming site Joystiq — is in the midst of a major reorganization, and is cutting back on media properties it deems as underperforming. TUAW’s run comes to an end on February 2nd.

This is pinging my nostalgia hard. Like many others have already commented, TUAW was my first Apple blog. It launched when I was in college, and I was a loyal reader for years. Unfortunately, also like many others, I eventually moved on to other sources for my Apple news and content. Though it's not been quite what it used to be for some time, I wish all the editors and writers the very best with their next gigs.

TUAW is shutting down

It seems that AOL has decided to shut down The Unofficial Apple Weblog and fold it into Engadget.

I can’t that I’m terribly surprised by that. It looks like AOL has successfully ruined another blog site.

TUAW always used to be the reliable Apple website that I went to for news. Now, I’m more likely to be looking at MacRumors, The Verge (despite the click-bait) and Ars Technica. And, of course, Daring Fireball.

TUAW, and the other AOL property, Engadget, barely get a look from me now.

Thanks for the good times, TUAW, but those good times are well in the past now.
