This track barely missed the cut for Cross Section Part II, but it saw a low-profile release as a bonus track for the now-out-of-print Cross Section Parts I & II CD before finally ending up on Veneer. It has had the worst luck in my setlists - it got cut from the first few shows I was going to play it at, and then it only got played twice after it finally dropped on an album! Even though I haven't dropped it in a while, it's still one of my favorites to play, and I hope that someday I have the time to drop it again!

I missed weekly tracks last week! Whoops! School and work are kind of a bummer, huh? This chill track was a staple of my sets in 2013, when Relentless Eventful was my most recent full-length release. I didn't play it at all in 2014 - Veneer seems to have bumped it off the setlist! Deep cut status in 2015?

Funkier than usual. Listen for the breakdown! I've only played this song live once - it was one of the last ones from Veneer to pop up in my live set (a few are still left to debut). Maybe I'll break it out again when it's a deeper cut!
tuesday track: can't remember to forget you by shakira
Shakira is no stranger to collaboration with her fellow pop competitors. In 2007, Shakira teamed up with Beyoncé on "Beautiful Liar." Now the singer-slash-The-Voice-judge has continued to prove that two voices are better than one with her collaboration with Rihanna. "Can't Remember To Forget You" is a rock-tinged pop song full of signature Shakira sex appeal. Rihanna layers on her attitude on the second verse and following refrains.
I love the oxymoron of the song's title and chorus. While the lyrics aren't anything shockingly new, the theme glamorizes bad boy romances (no surprise with Rihanna). The production pushes against the EDM trend with defiance in every guitar chord. When you combine some of pop's most powerful personalities, you always get a great result.

tuesday track: white christmas by michael bublé
It wouldn't be Christmas Eve without listening to a little Michael Bublé music. His holiday album, aptly titled Christmas, is a smooth sleigh ride of jazz and R&B. This must-have music has appearances from Shania Twain, Thalía and The Puppini Sister. My favorite track from Michael's Christmas is "White Christmas".
There are so many versions of "White Christmas" that are equally amazing, but this duet with Shania Twain is more upbeat and fun than most. I love the old-time feel of this track. Surprisingly, Michael's voice melds amazingly with Twain's twang. It's such a fun song to sing along to with someone else.
The one day I love snow is on Christmas Day because it's the only day you don't have to go anywhere so you can just enjoy the flurries falling down. Here's hoping it will snow in Portland tomorrow!
