buncha oneshottttttttttttttt
tumblr uploaded this horribly as always :D
For some reason the new post isn’t showing up in the tag search. Does anyone know what might be wrong? I’ve tried adding tags, removing tags, adding and removing the image in the body of the post... And I am stumped. Very, very stumped. x_x
Tumblr keeps crashing 😭 I could finally watch ep5 and I read your recap—full agreement on all ends. I wanted to say in particular that I'm upset with the lack of onscreen struggle for Qrow with his alcoholism and I was actually shocked Weiss didn't say anything about cleaning the Schnee name like she did in v4? When she confronted her father/he slapped her. To say "I'm not going to let him be the end of the family name" like she said in v2. I'm upset she is acting like they are *certain* (1/2)
Tumblr? Crashing? My god who would have ever thought such a thing could happen… :D
More seriously: all of this. I glossed over it a bit in my recap because there’s lots to write about but in hindsight that conversation with Winter is so frustrating. Weiss seems to be working under the assumption that Ironwood must behiding something because… why? He’s doing some things she doesn’t agree with? So is Winter. He’s an adult? An ally of Ozpin’s? You can see the messedup ‘logic’ at work. And as said in my recap, that’s a pretty high horse tosit on when she and her team are all keeping secrets/telling lies.
Just like I think the fandom forgets that in-world this group doesn’t have Web-Series Protagonist Status, I think the fandom likewise forgets that we assumeIronwood is up to something because of our knowledge as viewers. The moment he explained his reasoning behind the embargo, admitted that he hasn’t found aperfect solution that keeps Mantle safe as well as happy, did everything hecould to support the group as huntresses, etc. … we lost all in-worldevidence for his supposed duplicity. There is, currently, nothing in the storyitself to suggest that Ironwood is up to something. Rather, we maintain thatassumption because it’s a story. Because we expect conflict. Because when we see things going smoothly we as audience members automatically think, “Ha. Well, that can’t last. Otherwise this would be a really boring show.” The cast though? They have none of this critical-thinking-audience-watching-a-constructed-show knowledge. Or at least they shouldn’t. Yet that’s sort of what RT seems to be banking on. Accept that Weiss is suspicious of Ironwood because you’re suspicious of Ironwood. Even though you both have radically different knowledge of this situation.
So if we remove that from the equation and take the group’s continued hesitance at face value, all it does is re-emphasize how difficult it is to trust people even though they’ve given you every reason why you should. Ironwood explained himself, is allied with your family and friends, he’s trying to do right by the people, he’s given you new weapons and armor, licenses, trusts you with his secret Salem plan, none of you have seen ANY evidence that all this isn’t sincere… so what precisely does he need to do to prove he’s trustworthy? In the end, all it does is paint them more and more like Ozpin: surrounded by allies who seem to be on his side, yet not willing to risk trusting them despite that. Ironwood is the new RWBJNR. Which would have made for a GREAT volume if they hadn’t turned around with Qrow’s ‘You’re different’ nonsense and Weiss’ hypocrisy. If even a single person would admit that they’re treating Ironwood precisely like Ozpin treated them because trusting others is hard and these secrets are massive. Oh wow. Ozpin was right to be wary. We get that now that we’re in his position.
It really is just more of that, ‘The group is special because they’re protagonists and no in-world events or basic logic will ever challenge that.’
ugh tumblr.

She couldn’t stop the smile that found her own lips upon seeing his smile, her stomach fluttering like a smitten young girls as she stepped into the room, sliding the door closed behind her.
Noting the book upon the desk before him, she quirked an eyebrow, curiously inquiring.
“What are you reading?” She was curious about what it was that he found intriguing, not to mention the fact that sleep was evading her at all costs. Her mind was abuzz with rampant thoughts of her predicament. On one hand, she wished for nothing more than to return to the life she’d known, some 1000 years in the future. However, on the other, each day that passed, she found herself growing attached to her new life in Goryeo. If she was given the choice of one over the other, she knew not which she would choose.
Wrinkling her nose at his questions, she gave a gentle nod, diverting her gaze away from him to glance around the room momentarily.
“I couldn’t sleep- I tried.” Soo confessed, moving further into the room, glancing at books upon the nearby shelf, soft fingertips tracing the spines, so different from the bindings of future books. “I have far too much on my mind to even consider allowing sleep to creep in on me.”
what is being hidden from me?????
