"The Great Chase: Tokyo Police Department's Serious Crimes Investigation Division—SSBC," Episode 6.
The three main roles are played by actors Nao Omori, Masaki Aiba (from the band "Arashi") and Nao Matsushita.
The sixth episode will air on 13 August on "TV Asahi" (every Wednesday at 21.00 P.M. on japanese time and 3 p.m. Moscow time).
This is a new crime drama in the legendary ‘Wednesday 9:00 p.m.’ slot, which has produced such hits as “Aibō” and ‘Tokuso 9.’ For the first time, the focus is on the newest police division, namely a special sector created within the SSBC (Modern Investigation Methods Division) that deals with the most serious crimes—murders, robberies, arson—and supports the work of Investigation Division No. 1. The series depicts their complex investigations and human dramas.
The cast also includes Yudai Chiba, Kento Shibuya, Rika Adachi, Rei Maruyama, Kota Nomura, Daisuke Honda, Toshihiro Yasiba, Rin Mizushima, Keisuke Watanabe, Masashi Miyaji, Ken Mitsuaki, Kenichi Endo, and Koichi Sato.
During dinner with his former colleagues, Ryota Kashiwagi (Yudai Chiba) and Kyohei Hara (Kento Shibuya), Rintaro Nanami (Masaki Aiba) suddenly experiences severe abdominal pain and ends up in hospital, where he undergoes an operation to remove his appendix. He remains in hospital for treatment.
At the same time, a murder takes place—an unknown assailant fatally stabs a man, presumably a driver. All items that could identify him—his driver's licence, wallet—are stolen, and the memory card from the dashcam is removed. The police soon discover that the victim is Hideaki Tomita (Tomo Nikai), the driver of the personal car of the president of the security company Moroboshi Security. After driving the president to Haneda Airport for a flight abroad, he somehow returned to his boss's house, where he was attacked. Detective Haru Aoyagi (Nao Matsushita) from Investigation Division No. 1 finds this strange and goes to talk to the company's vice president, Osamu Arakiya (Bokuzo Masana). His behaviour seems suspicious, and the head of Investigation Division No. 1, Yaegashi (Kenichi Endo), orders him to be questioned more thoroughly.
That same evening, two daring robberies take place—at a jewellery store in the Aoyama district and a private home in Seijo. The damage amounted to about 100 million yen in jewellery and cash. The surveillance cameras were turned off during the crimes, and the alarm did not go off. Both the store and the house were serviced by the Moroboshi Security company. The company president's driver was killed, and the next day, with the alarm system disabled, the thefts were committed. The coincidence seems unlikely, and detective Shuji Igaki (Nao Omori) suspects a connection between the cases.
The more the police question the company's employees, the more obvious it becomes that they are hiding something. Suspicions arise about the involvement of the entire organisation. In the end, Arakiya confesses: President Katsuyo Moroboshi (Akisato Yamada) has been kidnapped. Soon, the kidnappers' demands become known. The criminal plan, constructed with almost playful precision, hides a shocking goal...
