man, that Delena scene. the music cues tell you how ~~romantic it is that she “can’t [stop loving him]” despite everything he does. but my brain is playing “sunk-cost fallacy” over and over to drown it <3
once again: Delena is endgame* because Elena thinks she’s invested too much in him and their relationship not to stick with him. this + this post I made yesterday about the changes in Bamon’s + Daroline’s dynamics by the end of the show... I think her ending is a tragedy and truly horrifying, but I have to admit, I feel no heartache for her. time and time again she pushed for others to accept Damon into their lives despite how much he hurt them. well, they did. you reap what you sow etc. etc.
*on a Watsonian level, of course. on a Doylist one, Klaus’s narrative won over Stefan‘s and her character was stuck with the only choice she had left.
