Irosami Asami being crowned the firelady please
(I saw this yesterday and I'm sorry I didn't write it then!)
Six small words changed her life. “I’m retiring. Please come home soon.” Since then Asami's stomach had been filed with butterfly-wasps. She'd known since she agreed to marry Iroh that this day would come. Yet even through the preparations for her royal wedding and seeing her gold hair piece in her jewelry box it never felt real. After their lavish affair she and Iroh went back to Republic City and kept going with their lives.
Now she was going to be crowned Fire Lady. Future Industries officially moved their headquarters to the Fire Nation (Asami was not stepping down and she'd told Iroh as much when they got married) and everything was falling in place.
"I'm going to be sick," she told Iroh as she adjusted her traditional robe yet again.
"You'll be fine," he told her. "Besides, you already run a small empire."
"Haha," she said. "But you always knew you'd do this and I feel like everyone is watching me and waiting for something."
"Probably for your illness to be caused by a baby." She hit him. "I'm just saying and I know we talked about this! Not until we're comfortable."
"Right," she gave him a quick peck. "You sure all I have to do is sit there?"
"I'm the one that makes the speech."
Before Asami could answer the current Fire Lord burst into the room. "My baby looks so handsome today," she said as she came over and hugged her son."
"Now you remember when your grandfather retired?" Iroh nodded. "We're going to do the same thing. The Fire Sage will take the flame out of my hair, put it in yours, you really should have grown it out more," Iroh rolled his eyes at that, "announce you as Fire Lord Iroh and then your speech after which you put Asami's flame in her hair. Then celebrations and I get to pass on all the joys of ruling a country to you and go live somewhere else."
Everything seemed to blur together after that. Asami could remember Iroh smiling when he stood to speak and when he placed her flame in her hair. What stood out most were the cheers when they kissed.
