truthfully, colton wasn’t sure why this made him so anxious, perhaps because it’d been so long since he’d done such a thing. or maybe he just wanted it to be perfect, as silly and old fashioned as that was. he knew he had nothing to fear from cecilia, even on the odd chance she did turn him down, he wouldn’t lose her, things would probably just be awkward for a while. whatever happened, they could handle. taking one last deep breath to ready himself, he nodded, she was right, as she often was. he just needed to do it before he lost his nerve again. keeping that in mind, he freed one of his arms that had been previously wrapped around her, to fish out the ring in his pocket. ❝ cecilia bengtson, will you marry me ?? ❞ he asked softly, his dark eyes filled with nothing but adoration for the human. ❝ i’d get down on one knee and do this the more traditional way for you but we’re uh, a bit tangled. ❞ and he really didn’t want to force her off his lap, he was quite comfortable tangled up on the couch with her.

a book store wasn't exactly where one might expect to find the devil, but it felt as though she was about to enter a new chapter of her life — what, with michael dead, leia free, and well, the unfortunate mess she'd made of things with her former flame. never one to pass up a good parallel between the the literal and metaphorical, luci thought it might be time to turn the page. on the literal side of things, she had gathered a few classics she'd neglected in her time on earth. paradise lost; the divine comedy; the mysterious stranger; i, lucifer… perhaps it was a bit of a narcissistic reading list. setting the stack of books on the counter, she waited a moment for a clerk to arrive, but luci wasn't known for her patience. ringing the bell a few times, she opened her mouth to call for someone but closed it without making a sound when she sensed a seraph in her presence. she glanced at him and decided not to speak, instead waiting to see if he would be the one to address the celestial elephant in the room.
